Our center is run entirely by volunteers, and last weekend Debbie and Mayra, our precious managers, had the opportunity to spend time training with fellow Admin Directors and Education Program Coordinators.

It was truly inspiring to see them gather with such a dedicated community, all working together to support the flourishing of Kadampa centers around the world. Their experience was deeply meaningful and energizing, filled with wisdom, connection, and shared purpose. They returned feeling grateful, inspired, and ready to serve our community even better.

Understanding and Transforming Suffering:
Teaching and Meditations on the Four Noble Truths.
with Kadam Donna Campanelli
Wednesday Evenings, 7:00pm -8:30pm

Whether it’s everyday stress, sadness, or even anger, our suffering can be transformed into inner strength, love, and joy. The first step is understanding its source; does it come from the body, the mind, or somewhere else? And if we understand it, can it be removed?

In this series, we’ll explore Buddha’s teachings on the Four Noble Truths, which clearly explain both the problem of suffering and its solution. Through teachings and meditation, we’ll discover that suffering comes not from external conditions, but from our own mind. Recognizing this opens the door to transforming our experience and uncovering a more lasting, genuine happiness.

Everyone welcome! Suitable for both beginners and experienced meditators.

Meditation and Letting Go of Stress
with Kadam Donna Campanelli
Wednesday Evenings, 7:00pm -8:30pm

It’s nearly impossible in our modern busy lives to meet anyone who doesn’t experience some form of stress. Few things can be more debilitating, and we all know the toll it can take on us both mentally and physically.

Through the practice of meditation, we can transform stressful situations into opportunities for growth and become the person we’ve always wanted to be. In this series of guided meditations and talks, we will receive clear guidance on how, through meditation, we can let go of stress. Through gaining insight into our mind, we can even let go of the underlying causes of stress and get to the point where we even enjoy situations we previously found unenjoyable, now seeing them as opportunities for growth.

Everyone welcome! Suitable for both beginners and experienced meditators.

SATURDAY, APRIL 11

1:15 - 2:15PM: LUNCH

Seating is limited, pre-registration required.

To celebrate 25 years of Dharma in Westchester, we are delighted to welcome Special Guest Teacher, Eastern National Spiritual Director, Kadam Morten Clausen for a very special course.

It is easy to feel stuck in patterns from the past. We may notice ourselves repeating the same thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, even when they no longer serve us. According to Buddha’s teachings, however, nothing about us is fixed. Through meditation and practical wisdom, we can let go of old habits and deliberately cultivate new, healthier ways of thinking and living.

In this course, Kadam Morten will explain how meditation helps us break free from unhelpful mental patterns and build positive habits that support the life we truly want. You will learn simple, practical methods for transforming your mind, developing inner strength, and creating genuine change from within.

Whether you are brand new to Buddhism or have been practicing for years, this event is a beautiful opportunity to reconnect, deepen your understanding, and celebrate the flourishing of Vajra Light Kadampa Buddhist Center over the past 25 years.

After the course, please join us for a delicious lunch and joyful community gathering as we continue the celebration together.

Everyone is welcome!

NEW SERIES! What Meditating on Death Teaches Us About Living
with Kadam Donna Campanelli
Sunday Mornings, 10:30am -12:00pm

Why would anyone want to meditate on death? Isn’t that depressing? Not according to Buddha. Ignoring the one certainty in life - death - when thinking about living life meaningfully, makes no sense. It is in the full awareness of our own mortality that we naturally prioritize what matters most. In this sense, the meditation on death is profoundly life-affirming! It is the most spiritually motivating of all the meditations, making us want to take full advantage of every single moment of our precious human life.

In this series, through talks and guided meditations, Kadam Donna will take us on a journey into the profound implications of this special meditation that has been empowering spiritual practitioners for centuries.

Everyone welcome! Suitable for both beginners and experienced meditators.

Supreme Unchanging Friend - Empowerment Weekend of Buddha Shakyamuni
March 14 - 15, 2026
With Kadam Donna Campanelli
Seating is limited, pre-registration required.

2600 years ago, Buddha Shakyamuni appeared in this world, and showed how it is possible for each one of us to attain the freedom and peace of enlightenment. Since Buddha’s teachings and methods lead us on an internal path to freedom, they continue to be powerful, beneficial and effective in present times.

During this special weekend course, Kadam Donna will grant the blessing empowerment of Buddha Shakyamuni, a beautiful guided meditation through which we receive Buddha’s inspiring blessings followed by teachings on The Liberating Prayer ~ a praise to Buddha Shakyamuni, composed by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche.

NEW SERIES BEGINS WEDNESDAY
The True Nature of Things
with Kadam Donna Campanelli
Wednesday Eventings, 7:00pm -8:30pm

According to Buddha, we all have within our minds the potential to experience limitless joy, love and freedom from unhappiness. This may sound too good to be true and very different from how we normally perceive ourselves. However, our ordinary limited view of our self, the one that we base all our thoughts and actions upon, is incorrect. Buddha clearly demonstrates how the painful self we normally relate to, called self-grasping ignorance, underlies all our tension, anxiety, pain, and suffering; and through a profound meditation, known as meditation on emptiness, he shows us how to let go of that limited version of our self and our world, and open ourselves up to whole new and wonderful way of being - a happiness that enables us to live lightly and joyfully in the modern world.

In this series, Kadam Donna will guide us through the extraordinary chapter on the ultimate nature of reality, emptiness, from Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s book, The New Eight Steps to Happiness.

Everyone welcome! Suitable for both beginners and experienced meditators.

IMPORTANT US FESTIVAL REGISTRATION INFO!
Registration for the In-Person Festival opens Thursday, January 22 at 2:00pm EST.

Registration for the live-stream Festival will open closer to the event — keep your eyes open for announcements!

✨ Early Bird Discount
Book by March 24 at 11:59pm EDT to receive the discount.

A New Registration System
If you’ve booked a Kadampa Festival before, this system will look quite different — but don’t worry, it’s designed to be clear, smooth, and easy to navigate.

A few helpful things to know:
• The first page you’ll see is the Accommodations Options page. The price shown includes all teachings, accommodations, and all meals for the full event, so you can immediately see the total cost of attending.

Not staying for the whole festival? No problem— you’ll be able to adjust your options later.

• Because onsite accommodations are so limited, most are only available for the full five nights. If you’re coming for just a few days, you won’t be able to book these, but you can choose camping, which has no minimum stay.

• Staying offsite? Simply select Day Visitor at the bottom of the screen.

• The next screen lets you choose your other Festival options like festival dates, meals, and transportation options. Just follow the instructions as you go— the process should be smooth and straightforward.

If you selected a twin or double room earlier, make sure to have your roommate’s name ready – you’ll need to add it on this screen.

BEGIN THE NEW YEAR WITH MEDITATION
A Friend to The World
with Kadam Donna Campanelli
Wednesday Eventings, 7:00pm -8:30pm

Continuing our series on The New Eight Steps to Happiness, we turn to the cultivation of a truly extraordinary state of mind known as bodhichitta. Training in bodhichitta is one of the most meaningful ways to make our life deeply purposeful.

Each of us possesses an extraordinary potential—the potential for lasting happiness and freedom, known as enlightenment. Yet this potential can only be fulfilled if we genuinely wish to realize it. That wish, born from compassion and the sincere desire to benefit others, is called bodhichitta.

In this series, we will explore the remarkable benefits that arise from this single intention, along with practical ways to develop and sustain it in our daily lives.

Everyone welcome! Suitable for both beginners and experienced meditators.
