I’ve been sittin’ with this for a couple of years now, and I finally felt the nudge to put it out there. Timing is Everything in God’s world.

Marriage is under attack—not just out in the world, but inside our homes. Especially among people who call themselves Christian and follow God's Word. We’ve gotten real comfortable treatin’ covenant like a contract and walkin’ away when things get hard. I've had to do that Myself but not by choice.

The Bible don’t sugarcoat it. So i won’t either. God says, He hates divorce! Not because He’s cruel—but because He knows the damage it does. And at the same time, He’s a God who loves redemption and knows how to restore what looks too far gone.
So over the next 14 days, I’m sharing a marriage devotional that goes back to God’s original design—plain truth, no fluff, no shame. Just Scripture, reflection, and a reminder that marriage was God’s idea and still matters to Him.
This ain’t about perfection.
It’s about faithfulness. It's about Truth and nothing watered down.
It’s about rememberin’ what God joined together is scared and worth fightin’ for.
Whether your marriage is strong, strained, or somewhere in between—this is for you.
If you’re willin’ to lean in, pray hard, and let God do some heart work, I’d love for you to check in each day and comment below.

I have a heart for broken covenant marriages, so me and my team are putting together a devotional for hurting marriages. We would love your feedback if it touches your heart;
please like and share ~ Have a lot to say about this subject.

Here’s Day 1
Devotions on God’s Design for Marriage

DAY 1 ~ God Hates Divorce but Loves Redemption
Scripture:
“For the Lord God of Israel says that He hates divorce…” — Malachi 2:16
“I will restore to you the years the locust has eaten…” — Joel 2:25
Devotional
Let’s not dance around it—God don’t like divorce.
The Bible says plain as day, He hates it.
Not because He’s mean. Not because He’s lookin’ to punish folks who’ve been through hell and back. He hates divorce because He knows the wreckage it leaves behind. Torn-up hearts. Broken trust. Kids carryin’ weight they never asked for. Promises left lyin’ in the dirt. And more brokenness you never see comin’. No one wins in divorce.
Marriage wasn’t meant to be tossed aside when it gets hard. It was God’s idea from the start.
A covenant. A promise made before Him. When God joins two folks together, He takes it serious - dead serious. He doesn’t believe in broken covenant like the world believes in broken agreements.
Here’s the difference
Agreement / Contract
An agreement (or contract) is:
• Conditional – “I will if you will.”
• Performance-based – benefits depend on behavior.
• Easily dissolved when one party fails to uphold their part.
• Self-protective – focused on rights and outcomes.
Example:
“If you meet the terms, I’ll continue. If not, I’m out.”
Covenant
A covenant is very different:
• Relational, not transactional
• Unconditional commitment – “I will, even if you don’t.”
• Binding at the cost of the giver
• Focused on faithfulness, not convenience
• About identity and belonging, not just behavior
In Scripture, covenants were often sealed with blood, vows, or life-altering promises. They weren’t easily broken because they weren’t based on performance - they were based on promise.
God’s covenant with His people is the clearest example:
God remains faithful even when people fail.
Now listen close - God’s hatred of divorce don’t mean He turns His back on people.
The same God who says He hates divorce is the same God who rolls up His sleeves and starts restor’n what got broke. He’s the God who puts years back together that looked too far gone. He don’t excuse sin, but He sure don’t abandon His children either.
This ain’t about shame. This is about truth.
God cares about covenant. He cares about faithfulness. And He cares about callin’ husbands and wives back to what marriage was always meant to be—somethin’ that fell in the category of “no matter what”… we stay. Because that’s who HE is too.
If your marriage is strong, guard it.
If it’s hurtin’, don’t quit yet.
And if it’s already broke, know this—God heart broke too.
Reflection — Husband
• Have I treated my marriage like a sacred promise before God, or like somethin’ I can walk away from when it gets uncomfortable?
• Am I protectin’ what God gave me, or lettin’ things slide I know better than to ignore?
• What’s one place God’s askin’ me to step up instead of checkin’ out?
Reflection — Wife
• Do I see my marriage as a covenant God cares deeply about, even when it hurts?
• Have disappointment or fear made me pull back instead of pressin’ in?
• Where might God be askin’ me to trust Him again—with my heart and my commitment?
Prayer
Lord, You know my heart and You know this marriage. Help me see it the way You do. Give me the grit to stay faithful, the humility to change, the grace to forgive and the desire to stay, even in the “No matter what” part. Fix what’s been hurt and strengthen what’s still standin’. I don’t want culture’s way – I want Yours. Amen
