“Six Degree of Separation” It is claimed that anyone in the world is connected to anyone else within six shared acquaintances: it’s called “Six Degrees of Separation.” For those who know Jesus as Lord, though, there is “no degree of separation” from the Holy Spirit. We will explore this blessing as we look at Romans 8:31-39 during this Sunday’s sermon (August 23rd) at St. Paul's UCC N10362 St Paul Rd Malone.

A $5,000 Iversen Scholarship was presented by Oran Sattler to Mackenzie Wagner to continue her education. She is a senior at UW Green Bay studying marketing with a minor in graphic arts. Oran’s grandfather was a step-brother to Lothar Iversen who donated $10,000 to St. Paul’s UCC to start the scholarship fund in the mid-1980s. This is the third scholarship Mackenzie has received from the Iversen Scholarship. Mackenzie is extremely grateful for the generous scholarships she has received from St. Paul’s UCC.

Generosity abounds! With help from many organizations including St. Paul's UCC, the Catholic Churches of the Holyland, Salvatorian Mission Warehouse, Thrivent Financial and friends from Artesia Beach Road, our tables are overflowing with school supplies and backpacks! We are so excited to help area students fill them with all the items on their class list this week. We have been greatly blessed to be able to do this with God's love and guidance.

Join Pastor Mike this Sunday for his sermon “Down a Theological Rabbit Hole” OR “Those Who are Called.” We continue our study of Romans, Chapter 8 with a look at Romans 8:28-30, where we are assured that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him. However, the passage then challenges us to consider what it means to be “called” by God. All are welcome: 10:30 am St. Paul’s UCC N10362 St Paul Rd, Malone.

Our minds were blown away by the volunteer work being done at the Salvatorian Mission Warehouse in New Holstein, headed up by dedicated Christian servants Mark and Diane Steiner. A group of us from St. Paul's were given a tour of the facilities last week. The volunteers all had smiles on their faces. Plus our shopping at their Lands' End return store will help them reach their goal of shipping forty-two 40 ft shipping containers filled with food, medical equipment, clothes, furniture and more to those in need in countries around the world. "Love your neighbor as yourself. Amen!"

Today we honored Dustin Wagner for his many hours of study and congratulate him on his graduation from New Holstein high School. Dustin grew up at St. Paul's, having been baptized and confirmed here. Consistent with his love of hunting and fishing, Dustin plans to attend Fox Valley Technical College for a degree in Natural Resources and we know that God has great plans for his future. Dustin received a $2,000 Iversen Scholarship to help him pursue his associate degree. In addition, we wish him the best as he participates in the USA High School Trap Shooting National Competition this summer. The quote Dustin included with his picture in his high school yearbook was: Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged. The Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 4:19
