Everyone is welcome to join Makawao Hongwanji’s Fall Equinox Higan-e Dharma Family Service--with Dharma School-- this Sunday, September 20, 2026, starting at 9:00 a.m. (HST) in-person at the temple or via livestream on Facebook LIVE, YouTube, and the temple website.

Barkley the Dog and Lucy the Lady Bug will present the Children's Dharma Story Time book, "Why not?", written by Kobi Yamada and illustrated by Gabriella Barouch, a story about discovering our bright possibilities.

In the Dharma Talk for Adults, Rev. Kerry will talk about how Shin Buddhist funerals are a "celebration of birth" (in the Pure Land), as opposed to a "celebration of life". As Buddhists, we must acknowledge and accept the great change called "death" as a new beginning, not an end, and Namo Amida Butsu provides a path.
