Planted in early spring in the cold, dark earth, through terrible dry spells of drought and torrential rains and floods, Mrs. Leslie’s wildflowers by our porch have finally bloomed and blossomed into God’s own beauty. And only God can bring beauty from any situation. Today at our church I will be bringing a message from Psalm 13, a message on the God who goes with us through our grief.

Grief is that deep, painful feeling in our hearts of great sorrow at great loss. Every person experiences grief at some time. It may be the grief at the loss of a loved one. But it can also be grief in the midst of other losses, our health, our relationships, our hopes, our dreams. Grief can come suddenly at a time of tragedy, or it can build painfully slowly as we see a loved one slipping away. Everyone grieves differently, but one thing is for sure. Grief hurts, deeply. Left to itself, grief can even drive us to despair.

But that’s where God comes in. Because God is greater than our grief. God Himself promises to walk with us through every valley of sorrow, through times when our soul is as dry as powder. Through times when the rain just keeps pouring and it seems the sun will never shine again. Even in those times, God is moving. He is with us. He is Emmanuel.

The same God who oversaw the planting, the drought, the flooding of these seeds - then grew them into beautiful flowers - He can also bring beauty from the painful seeds of grief. Psalm 13 is six short verses - let the Lord speak to you in your grief today. He is with you, and in Christ Jesus you can and will bloom and blossom and sing His praises again. Because while our time is so very short - eternity with God is FOREVER! So bring your grief to God and worship Him today.

Psalm 13

How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?

2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?

3 Consider and hear me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;

4 Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.

5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

6 I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

Good morning Corinth! Please keep the Builders for Christ in your prayers as they are working on a new children’s home in Brookhaven. Also - the Proclaimers are leaving for summer missions next Tuesday. A love offering will be taken this Sunday for the Proclaimers to help in covering higher fuel costs. See you all on Sunday!

Good Sunday morning on this Memorial Day weekend! As we prepare to worship the Lord today, let us also pause to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in defense of American freedom, so that we might have the right to gather and worship freely today. In Romans 5:6-9 the apostle Paul penned these inspired words:

“For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrated His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.”

The soldiers who went to war and died - they fought for those who were without strength to fight for themselves. They fought for those who in many cases did not appreciate their sacrifice. And they fought and died experiencing the horrors and ravages of war, most people can never truly comprehend. Yet these soldiers were willing to go and willing to die so that we could live and stay free. And we will never forget their sacrifice for our freedom.

In a profoundly similar way, Jesus Christ was willing to go to the Cross and die in our place so that we could experience eternal life and eternal freedom. Christ died while we were weak, while we were in our sins and unworthy, and Christ experienced the full wrath of God for our sin so that we might be rescued and reborn eternally. Always remember the perfect sacrifice of Jesus Christ - because He loves YOU just that much. God bless you today!

Good Sunday morning! Have you stopped lately to consider the miracle of life? The miracle of a newborn baby? Only God can do such a creative miracle that we see in the eyes of a newborn baby. You and I, our lives are actually a miracle from God, when you think about it.

But life is hard. As we grow we have aches and pains, problems , broken relationships and broken lives. Sin brings so much destruction. We sometimes wish we somehow could go back and begin again.

That’s where I have some good news for you, because you can be born again in Jesus Christ. A new life, a new identity, a child of God born of God’s own spirit! But to start again, you must be born again.

Like these ugly worms in the video🐛 . They were born as worms, as a caterpillar. Aren’t they truly hideous? Their chrysalis isn’t that pretty, either. But take a look what happens when they are born again. Born again as a monarch butterfly! 🦋

God has a good plan for you, my friend. Find true life, new life in Jesus Christ! Believe on Jesus and be born again in Christ! John 3:16

Good Sunday morning! Today we look once again at Psalm 23, the Blessings of the Shepherd. Thank God we have a Good Shepherd who satisfies, restores, leads, comforts, protects, cares - and a Shepherd who brings us all the way HOME!

The Shepherd Satisfies. “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters

The Shepherd Restores. “He restores my soul;”

The Shepherd Leads. “He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.”

The Shepherd Comforts. “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil; For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”

The Shepherd Protects. “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.”

The Shepherd Cares. “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life;”

The Shepherd Brings Us Home. “And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.”

Have a blessed day as you consider the Blessings of the Shepherd!

Good Sunday morning! Have you ever considered that every single sheep needs a shepherd? God designed and created these beautiful animals that teach us so much about our great need, and the Shepherd’s loving care. Today just reflect on Psalm 23, and consider how much the Shepherd loves you to give you everything you need in life, and exactly what you need today. Satisfaction, Restoration, Guidance, and the gentle Peace of His presence. Think about our loving and caring Shepherd today, and have a blessed Lord’s Day.

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
