"I will never leave you nor will I ever forsake you." This is the promise that makes contentment possible. Notice the structure: first you're called to free yourself from the love of money and be content. Why? Because God has made you an unbreakable covenant promise. He will never abandon you. He will never desert you. Even when circumstances are difficult, when finances are tight, when you lack what others have—God will not leave. This ancient promise echoes through Scripture to every believer. God's presence and provision are constant. Because you know the God who never abandons His people, you can release your anxious grip on "things." You can be content. You are never alone. God's faithfulness is your security.

Of all the doctrines in Scripture, few are more sobering, more contested, and more in need of honest biblical examination than the doctrine of eternal conscious torment. In an age when annihilationism and conditionalism have gained increasing traction, the question of what the Bible actually teaches about the final destiny of the unrepentant is not academic — it is urgent. Revelation 19:20 and Revelation 20:10 do not leave the question open. The beast and the false prophet are thrown alive into the lake of fire. The devil who deceived them is thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet are — and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. The language is explicit, the duration is unambiguous, and a normal reading of the text indicates that final judgment of God is eternal torment in fire.

These nine qualities—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control—are not things you produce through your own effort. They are the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Just as a tree doesn't work to produce fruit but simply bears fruit naturally when healthy, believers naturally display these qualities when the Holy Spirit is working in them. Paul contrasts these with the flesh—selfish desires that war against the Spirit. When you became a Christian, the Spirit entered you to transform you into Christlikeness. These fruit are evidence of His work.

Humility is one of the most admired and least understood virtues in human experience. Everyone wants to be around humble people. Almost no one knows how to become one. Self-help culture offers techniques — think less of yourself, serve others more, practice gratitude. Religion offers duty — be humble because you ought to be. But neither technique nor duty has ever produced the kind of humility the world saw in Jesus Christ. The night before He went to the cross He wrapped a towel around His waist and washed the feet of the men who would abandon Him within hours. The One through whom all things were made knelt on the floor and cleaned the dirt from the feet of His disciples. This was not a performance of humility. This was the inevitable outward expression of who He was — the One who, though He was God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped but emptied Himself, took on the form of a servant, and humbled Himself to the point of death on a cross.

Jesus called His followers "the light of the world." But notice: you don't generate light yourself. You reflect the light of Christ. When you place faith in Christ, His light enters you and begins transforming your life. That transformation becomes visible through good works—acts of kindness, generosity, integrity, and love that reflect His character. These works aren't meant to draw attention to you or earn God's favor; they're meant to direct people's eyes to the Father in heaven. When others see Christ's work changing you, they're drawn to glorify God.

There is a question that sits beneath almost every other spiritual question a person can ask — Am I right with God? Not in theory. Not in general. But actually, personally, scripturally, finally right with God. Most people answer that question one of two ways. Either they hope that their good outweighs their bad, or they carry a quiet uncertainty that never fully resolves no matter how much they pray or try or give or attend. The Bible offers a third answer — and it is unlike anything religious effort can produce. To be in Jesus Christ means that every sin you have ever committed and every sin you will ever commit has been fully paid for by His sacrificial death on the cross. And it means something even more astonishing — that His perfect righteousness has been credited to your account so that you stand before God not merely pardoned but fully accepted, fully loved, and fully welcomed in His beloved Son. Not because of anything you have done. Not after you get it together. Right now, in Christ, completely and permanently.

Today we honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. Their sacrifice deserves our deepest gratitude and our lasting remembrance.

If you are carrying the weight of grief today — missing a husband, a wife, a son, a daughter, a parent, or a friend — know that you are not forgotten, and neither are they.

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted."
— Matthew 5:4

There is a question Jesus essentially poses in two back-to-back parables in Matthew 13 that most people never stop long enough to answer honestly — what is He actually worth to you? A man stumbles across a treasure hidden in a field and in his joy sells absolutely everything he owns to buy it. A merchant finds a single pearl of such surpassing value that he liquidates his entire inventory to obtain it. In both cases the logic is identical — when you have found something of incalculable worth, everything else becomes negotiable. Jesus is making a claim about Himself that is the most important truth a human being can encounter. He is saying that He is the treasure. He is the pearl. And that no honest accounting of what He is worth could justify holding anything back.

James 1:5 contains both a diagnosis and a prescription. The diagnosis: we lack wisdom. The prescription: ask God. Notice God's character here—He "gives generously to all without reproach." That means He won't scold us for needing wisdom or make us feel foolish for asking. He gives abundantly, liberally, without holding back. But there's a condition: we must ask. God doesn't give wisdom to those who rely on their own understanding. He gives it to those who recognize their need and humbly come to Him. Are you facing a decision today? Ask God. He promises to give wisdom generously to all who ask in faith.
