Ladies,

The UMW will play a vital role in the “A Taste of the Holidays” Women’s Ministry Event by coordinating the recipe sampling area. To that end we need volunteers to help do an assortment of duties, most importantly to cook/bake two pans (pans provided) your favorite holiday recipes to share with and serve to attendees.

While this event does not collect an admission fee, it WILL be collecting canned good donations which is directly a part of our UMW 2014 Missions Focus to feed the hungry.

Please use the Sign-Up Genius form below to volunteer; we need ALL hands on deck!

I have a very special request for volunteers to pledge to fill one (1) Christmas shoebox each (or more if you feel so led!) for Children in Honduras this holiday season as part of the AHMEN (Alabama Honduras Medical Education Network) program.

We will start collecting items immediately, with all shoeboxes due to be returned by Sunday, October 12 to the donation area next to the basket shelves near the reception desk in the Joy Building. I have ordered boxes and they will be in in a few days, so right now I need people to pledge to fill a shoebox and I will contact them once their shoebox is available. In the meantime, you can go ahead and start shopping for items to fill a box!

Toothbrush & toothpaste
Comb and Brush
Small Hand Mirror

The shoe boxes are furnished for us. Please try to fill each shoe box. Do NOT over fill. If one is bulging at the top, we cannot get them in the case. It is that close. Printed on the box is the manifest form please fill out with a pen indicating whether it is for a boy or girl and their age. Also, list what you have in the box. The Customs Declaration form, Operation Shoe Box (printed on the reverse side of the box), needs to be checked boy, girl, age.

Please place $4 cash in the envelope and tape it to the shoe box. $2 goes towards shipping to Honduras and $2 goes towards getting it throughout Honduras to individual towns.

Please feel free to share this need with other groups inside the church; we have an opportunity to fill many dozen of these boxes and need your help to spread the word!

You can log on to The City to sign up to pledge for a box:
