Jackson Street Ministry - Jackson, MS

A Christ-centered ministry serving the homeless in downtown Jackson, MS. All are welcomed to join us with common goal.

We gather every Wednesday night for dinner, devotionals, and fellowship, spreading the gospel and showing God’s love in action. Jackson Street Ministry is made up of many different Christian denomination: Baptist, Presbyterian, Church of Christ, Methodist, Pentecostal, Church of God to name a few. We go out, as believers in Jesus, to reach out to the homeless population living on the inner city streets of Jackson, Mississippi, offering relationships, basic necessities of life and prayer.

Last week, I had the privilege of witnessing and live out Matthew 25:40 in the most tangible way.

One of our regulars, Ms. Gwen, came to the bus visibly shaken—her hands covered in dirt and soot. Without hesitation, these two women knelt beside her, gently washed her hands and arms, and—most importantly—took the time to truly listen.

Week after week, Rene and Tasha remind me what it looks like to honor and love our homeless neighbors with dignity and compassion. I hope this encourages you the same way it encourages me. 🤍

Last week was such a special night with Jackson Street Ministries 🤍
We had the sweetest group from Church of God join us—families and individuals from all over the country who came with hearts ready to serve, worship, and love on our friends on the street. At each stop, they led us in worship, shared devotionals, and prayed with so many people. You could truly feel God’s presence in those moments.
Some of our regulars were moved to tears, and it was so powerful to witness. Even more incredible—we got to see one person openly give their life to Jesus. We know God was moving in more hearts too, even in ways we may never fully see.
We are so grateful for nights like this and for the people who say “yes” to showing up and being the hands and feet of Jesus. 💛

One of the best Christmas traditions we have is gathering together at Christmas time to share a meal and pack our blessing bags and totes to give out to our homeless friends as Christmas gifts. This year, we packed 96 bags with Bibles, flashlights, thermal shirts, snacks, and more! Honoring our homeless friends is one of the ways we honor Christ this season.

We are at in Flowood from 5-7 tonight with the big man himself! There is a free photo op with Santa Clause, an activity station for kiddos, and a booth with your favorite: Jackson Street Ministry! Come on by, drop off some warm clothes for our homeless friends, and enjoy this wonderful season of giving!

Hey look, mom! We’re on TV! Seriously, we are so grateful to the Raising Canes in Flowood for hosting us this coming Monday from 5-7. There will be free pictures with Santa, and opportunities donate financially as well. This is a great opportunity to teach the whole family the value of giving, especially this time of year. Also thanks to for helping us spread the word!

We were so thankful to get to see two of our past volunteers and this holiday season. They diligently love and are loved by our homeless friends even though they cannot come around as often. And the reunion was so sweet to see!

Happy Thanksgiving!
As we reflect on this season of gratitude, we’re reminded of the beautiful truth in Colossians 3:15 — “And be thankful.” Today, we give thanks for every single person who makes Jackson Street Ministries possible. 🤍
From the hands that faithfully pack sack dinners, to the volunteers who show up week after week to serve downtown, to the generous individuals who donate resources, clothing, and food — you are each a vital part of this ministry.
Every Wednesday night, our team goes into the heart of Jackson to share meals, pray with people, build relationships, and offer love and encouragement to our neighbors. None of this would happen without the kindness, compassion, and support of this community.
Thank you for showing up. Thank you for giving. Thank you for loving our city so well.
We are truly grateful for you. 🙏✨

"The food is not a big thing to me — the service is what counts for me.”

Sid has been coming to Jackson Street Ministries for a while now, but this Wednesday (11/12/2025) we celebrated something huge — 53 days clean after a near-death experience.
We are so thankful for his willingness to share his story, his dreams, and his faith in what’s next.

God is still writing his story. And we’re honored to be a small part of it.

Today, we are spotlighting Tommy Watrous. He’s a member of Broadmoor Baptist church and a vital member of our team. From driving the bus, to tracking supplies, and even leading devotionals, Tommy exemplifies servent leadership and inspires many other volunteers.
