What a contrast is presented in Matthew 12! The Pharisees mutter that Jesus has power to cast out demons because He must be the prince of demons. After destroying their accusation with logic, He presents Himself as the personification of the Kingdom of God, which has come upon us.

This week at Providence we’ll worship with song, prayer, and communion and study Matthew 12:22-31 “The Kingdom of God has Come Upon You”

Providence worship service is at 9:30 a.m. and 5:00 pm. We are located at 1510 Madison Street. We welcome you to attend or view the morning service livestream:

The writer of Matthew must have been steeped in the Law and the Prophets. He understood that Jesus had been sent to fulfill both its legal requirements and the prophesies.
He was the only One who could brings “justice to victory“
In Whose “name the Gentiles will hope,’ and remarkably and mercifully we learn that “a bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not quench”

This week at Providence we’ll worship with song, prayer, and communion. We'll rejoice in the astonishing way Jesus brings about salvation as we study Matthew 12:15-21: “A Bruised Reed and a Smoldering Wick.” Providence worship service is at 9:30 a.m. and 5:00 pm. When the church leaders who were always on the lookout for violations of the law saw Jesus and his disciples ‘violating’ the Sabbath, they pounced. They accused Him of unlawful behavior.
His response? He defended His disciples using examples from the law.
On what basis? The One who gave the law interprets it correctly.
The One who created the Sabbath is Lord of the Sabbath.
The ultimate sacrifice for sin says “I desire mercy, not sacrifice” from those who have received mercy.
Their response? They plotted how they might kill Him.

This week at Providence we’ll worship with song, prayer, and communion and rejoice in the assurance found in Matthew 12:1-14. “The Lord of the Sabbath.” Providence worship service is at 9:30 a.m. and 5:00 pm. We are located at 1510 Madison Street. We welcome you to attend or view the morning service livestream:

What comfort in these words from our Savior: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

This week at Providence we’ll worship with song, prayer, and communion and rejoice in the assurance found in Matthew 11:20-30 “Find Rest for Your Souls.” Providence worship service is at 9:30 a.m. We are located at 1510 Madison Street. Disciples of John the Baptist were sent to ask Jesus exactly who He was. As He often did, He answered in unexpected fashion. He recounted His miracles. He chastised the crowds of their misunderstandings about John. He likened them to children, and accused their leaders of foolish double standards. He seemed to embrace their description of Him: one who ate and drank with tax collectors. And sinners.
And again, turning everything upside down, He says “Blessed is the one who is not offended by Me.” Hmmm.
This week at Providence we’ll worship with song, prayer, and communion and an examination of how Jesus once again turns expectations upside down in Matthew 11:1-19 “Blessed are the Unoffended”.” Providence worship service is at 9:30 a.m. and 5:00 pm. We are located at 1510 Madison Street. We welcome you to attend or view the morning service livestream:

The Prince of Peace tells his disciples, "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword."
Can those two things be true at once?
And how about when the one who went to the cross to bear our guilt and shame tells his followers "Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me."
Can THOSE two things be true at the same time?

This Sunday we'll explore Matthew 10:34-42 as the One who describes Himself as the Truth tells us to "Take Up Your Cross."

Providence worship services are at 9:30 a.m. and 5:00 pm. We are located at 1510 Madison Street. We welcome you to attend or view the morning service livestream:
