On this Transgender Day of Remembrance (November 20), we remember the lives taken by anti-trans violence and recommit ourselves to the sacred work of safety, dignity, and love for all transgender people.
According to the Human Rights Campaign, at least 36 transgender and gender-expansive people were killed in the United States this past year—half of them Black trans women. Each life lost is a child of God whose dignity was denied and whose absence we hold with grief and resolve.
We affirm that our trans, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming siblings are beloved children of God and welcomed into the kin-dom equally. AWAB churches stand ready to receive you with love, affirmation, and community.
