Peter Mayer at James Reeb UU Congregation:

Minnesota's Peter Mayer has been singing and songwriting full-time for 30 years, performing in venues across the United States and beyond. He writes songs for a small planet--songs about interconnectedness and the human journey--songs about life on earth and the mysterious and wondrous fact of our existence. He also writes about dress hats, pumpkins and pajamas, and other important stuff. In UU circles, Peter is perhaps most famous for writing “Blue Boat Home.” Peter will be at James Reeb UUC to perform a concert on Saturday, May 30, 7pm and lead worship on Sunday, May 31. In weekend services May 2 & 3, co-led with members of our Welcoming Congregation Team, we will celebrate and affirm our re-certification as a Welcoming Congregation - Unitarian Universalism's designation for congregations who actively welcome and include LGBTQIA+ people. We have held this designation for over 30 years - what does this moral commitment mean for us as a community today, and what bold action is it calling us to take in the future?

This clip from Rev. Kelly-Asprooth Jackson's reflection on 3/29/2026 provides an introduction to UUA Study Action Issues.

Our current, association-wide Study Action Issue encourages all Unitarian Universalists and our many congregations to learn about and reflect on the subject of Abolition. One of the ways of defining that term is, "replacing systems and cultures of violence, coercion and control with transformative justice and relational practices." Abolitionism is a broad theme of social justice, from its historical association with the movement to abolish slavery, to modern campaigns to radically reimagine systems of crime and punishment.

In worship services 4/25 and 4/26, we'll explore that stream across time and how it connects to our most cherished principles as Unitarian Universalists.
