Rogation Sunday was observed last Sunday by walking around our campus and reciting prayers at 13 different locations - the outdoor chapel, the preschool entrance, etc.

Rogation - which comes from the latin “to ask” - is an ancient tradition in which the priest and congregation would walk the boudaries of the parish praying for a good harvest

It is a busy giving season at St. Andrew’s.

We are taking part in the statewide deacon’s “fill a pew with diapers” project.

We are collecting new and gently used clothing to be distributed by a shoreline health clinic, and our confirmation class is collecting books to be distributed to the Yale Children’s Hospital and local shelters.

Finally, our youth group did its annual shopping trip for donations to the town’s toy drive.

St. Andrew’s was hopping Friday, Dec. 5. Scattered through the classroom wing and the sanctuary were the prophets who foretold the coming of Jesus as part of our Advent Adventure.

Meanwhile downstairs in Farmer Hall our teens were baking cookies to donate to the annual Tommy Fund for Childhood Cancer event and filling Moment Bags for the homeless.

They and adult sttendees also enjoyed creating rustic stars, playing Advent Bingo, sipped on their choice of either hot chocolate or cold punch - all to the accompaniment of seasonal tunes performed by our own music director Jeremy Hutchins.

The evening concluded with the drawing for the basket of holiday-themed treats.
