Mandrake Road Church of Christ

Mandrake Road Church of Christ Mandrake Road Church of Christ We believe the Bible is the source of all spiritual authority. We are a Bible-believing and a Bible-guided church.

We are evangelical in that we believe the Bible to be inspired and accurate. We are a back-to-the-Bible kind of church, in that we believe when we do what the Bible says, we will be what the Bible describes. We try to restore New Testament Christianity by simply putting into practice what we read from the Bible. We read the Bible, understand the grammatical and historical settings, and then ask ho

w we can make this real for us. We end up with principles that we live by. About our Minister, Brent Johnson:

Brent, and his wife Kayde, joined us on October 1, 2017.

Worship Wednesday text! As the Psalmist, our worship pushes us to ponder what King Jesus’s reign looks like in our everyday lives as we anticipate his earthly advent as the one who carries YHWH’s justice into all of creation.

Psalm 146:5-10
146:5 Happy are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD their God,

146:6 who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them; who keeps faith forever;

146:7 who executes justice for the oppressed; who gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets the prisoners free;

146:8 the LORD opens the eyes of the blind. The LORD lifts up those who are bowed down; the LORD loves the righteous.

146:9 The LORD watches over the strangers; he upholds the orphan and the widow, but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin.

146:10 The LORD will reign forever, your God, O Zion, for all generations. Praise the LORD!

Our Wednesday worship thought. Psalm 72 guides us to ponder what it means to worship the king of all creation in anticipation Jesus’s earthly arrival.

Psalm 72:1-7, 18-19
72:1 Give the king your justice, O God, and your righteousness to a king's son.

72:2 May he judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with justice.

72:3 May the mountains yield prosperity for the people, and the hills, in righteousness.

72:4 May he defend the cause of the poor of the people, give deliverance to the needy, and crush the oppressor.

72:5 May he live while the sun endures, and as long as the moon, throughout all generations.

72:6 May he be like rain that falls on the mown grass, like showers that water the earth.

72:7 In his days may righteousness flourish and peace abound, until the moon is no more.

72:18 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who alone does wondrous things.

Psalm 122
122:1 I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go to the house of the LORD!"

122:2 Our feet are standing within your gates, O Jerusalem.

122:3 Jerusalem built as a city that is bound firmly together.

122:4 To it the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD, as was decreed for Israel, to give thanks to the name of the LORD.

122:5 For there the thrones for judgment were set up, the thrones of the house of David.

122:6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May they prosper who love you.

122:7 Peace be within your walls, and security within your towers."

122:8 For the sake of my relatives and friends I will say, "Peace be within you."

122:9 For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your good.

Psalm 98
98:1 O sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things. His right hand and his holy arm have gotten him victory.

98:2 The LORD has made known his victory; he has revealed his vindication in the sight of the nations.

98:3 He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness to the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the victory of our God.

98:4 Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises.

98:5 Sing praises to the LORD with the lyre, with the lyre and the sound of melody.

98:6 With trumpets and the sound of the horn make a joyful noise before the King, the LORD.

98:7 Let the sea roar, and all that fills it; the world and those who live in it.

98:8 Let the floods clap their hands; let the hills sing together for joy

98:9 at the presence of the LORD, for he is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity.

Our Story

We have been part of Madison’s North-side community since 1965. We are a family church seeking to know God through his son, Jesus, the Christ. A Bible-guided church, we understand that the book can help all people on their journey of knowing their creator and the love he has for this world.

We have been inspired by the church described in the New Testament, but understand that we don’t live in the first century AD. When we read the Bible, we try to understand the grammatical and historical settings, and then ask how it can be real for us today. We end up with principles that can we live by. About our Minister, Brent Johnson: Brent, and his wife Kayde, joined us on October 1, 2017.
