Reading your Bible
So many today complain that the scriptures of God’s Word is too difficult to understand.
I suppose that if we had no knowledge of its authority or how it is arranged or the contextual meaning or the timelines, it would not be as easy, as if we had a grasp of these basics.
However, as with any reading, or study of an issue, or topic in life, the first reading may not give me the answers.
Years ago, I decided to buy one of those stand up tool boxes, the kind with multiple drawers, lock, and wheels to try to organize my tools.
When I received the box, it was all pieces, with separate bags of screws, and a poorly written instruction paper.
Never having one of these, I had to depend totally on the directions.
As memory serves, I put it together and took it apart 4 times over several days, until all the pieces fit.
It was very frustrating, but I had a desire, and I had an investment in that red tool box.
If we could parallel this story with our spiritual instructions in the Bible, we can see that no one understands all of the directions correctly on the first try.
I encourage each of my readers to assume that comprehension of God’s instructions depends upon several factors.
Make sure the directions you are looking at are for the situation you are researching.
It may take a little longer to grow in your faith and commitment to God than you first thought.
You, like me, will make mistakes and have spiritual realignment as you continue your lifelong commitment to serve God.
In the future you should be able to see how much more you have become like Christ than at the beginning.
May God grant us all increased wisdom and understanding of the journey in front of us.
