We just added a new Christian worship song to our Sounds of Praise blog. It is a classic Christian song of adoration. The song, I Exalt Thee, lifts God to the highest position of reverence, glorifying Him, and acknowledging His supreme authority and holiness above all else. To use it as a time of personal praise give it a listen at: https://www.kallamgrove.org/i-exalt-thee/

Some of life’s holiest moments happen at the edge of goodbye.
Elisha walked beside Elijah as far as he could… and then discovered God was not finished when Elijah disappeared.

This week’s 4-day devotional follows one of Scripture’s most dramatic transitions of faith — Elijah’s earthly ministry ending and Elisha stepping into what comes next (2 Kings 2:1–14).

1. Elisha refuses to stay behind. While others remain at a distance, he chooses faithful presence. Sometimes spiritual growth begins with simply staying close when it would be easier to stop.
2. When Elijah asks what he desires, Elisha does not ask for recognition or position — he asks for what only God can provide. He understands that continuing faithful service requires more than determination; it requires God’s help.
3. Elijah and Elisha are still walking and talking when everything changes. The fiery chariot comes suddenly, and Elijah is gone. Life’s transitions often arrive while we are simply taking the next faithful step.
4. Now Elisha stands alone at the Jordan. He picks up Elijah’s cloak and moves forward in faith. The God who carried Elijah has not disappeared. Elisha learns that God’s presence remains even when familiar voices are no longer beside him.

Whether you are entering a new season, missing someone who shaped your faith, or wondering if you’re ready for what comes next, this devotional reminds us: God prepares us while we walk — and He remains faithful in every transition.

5/24/2026. Pastor Jason’s message today finishes the story of Elijah’s ministry – Elijah’s laying it down and Elisha’s picking it up. The take-away is that God prepares us to lay down one mission to pick up another so that His work continues. The full sermon can be viewed at: https://www.kallamgrove.org/messages/the-chariot/

God had seen Elijah’s despondency and his self-centered focus. To get Elijah back on his mission, God forced Elijah to rethink what had happened and how God had always come through in providing all he needed. God’s question, “What are you doing here”, was intended to force the introspection.

5/17/2026. Pastor Jason’s message this week, based on 1 Kings 19:9-21, considers how God persuaded Elijah to stop his reluctance to continue his mission by getting his Focus off himself and onto God. Meeting Elijah in a cave on Mt Horeb, God’s question to Elijah was “What are you doing here?” This question was not because God didn’t know the answer, the question’s purpose was to get Elijah to do some inward thinking; to get him to recall all the times God had protected him and provided all Elijah needed. God didn’t send Elijah answers – He sent bread and rest.

After his ministry experienced great victories on Mount Carmel, Elijah fell into fear and despair at Jezebel’s promise.

He ran to hide in the wilderness and in his despair cried out for God to let him die. God didn’t answer or send him a vision. He sent exactly what Elijah needed . . . bread, water, and rest.

God’s care often comes in the simplest ways.

5/10/2026. This week, Pastor Jason moves further into the story of Elijah. Elijah is overcome with fear and despair after hearing Jezebel’s promise of death and decides to flee into the wilderness south of Beersheba. There he seeks shelter under a broom tree and cries out for God to let him die. God doesn’t answer, he quietly provides food, water and rest to Elijah for the next phase of his journey. When nothing changes… do you stop praying—or press in harder?

After the fire fell on Mount Carmel, Elijah didn’t celebrate—he prayed.

While everyone else witnessed the dramatic power of God, Elijah went back up the mountain, bowed low, and sought the Lord again. Quiet. Hidden. Persistent. He prayed not for show, but for what God had already promised—the rain.

Time after time, his servant reported, “There’s nothing.”
Still, Elijah kept praying.

Then finally—a cloud the size of a man’s hand.
Small. Easy to overlook. But Elijah saw it for what it was: the beginning of God’s answer.

James reminds us that Elijah was just like us—no superhuman strength, no special status. Yet his prayers were powerful because he trusted God.

And Jesus invites us into that same kind of prayer life:
Ask. Seek. Knock. Keep going.

This week’s devotional explores how Elijah’s persistence becomes a model for us—especially when heaven seems silent and answers feel delayed.

Don’t stop at the silence. That may be where the breakthrough begins.
