Good afternoon, Parents! What an amazing and wonderful time to be at CrossPointe Church! We are excited to get to our announcements this week:
• Our Resurrection Sunday (Easter) plans are moving forward, and you and your family do not want to miss this great week in the Lord! Our Easter service will again be held outside at 10:30 a.m., weather permitting, and we encourage you to bring camp chairs or a blanket for you and your family. All children four-years-old and up will stay with their parents, with childcare options available for children three-year-old and younger. If you wish to volunteer to care for our younger children, please contact Vickie Adkins at [email protected] or Shelbi Thompson at [email protected].
• Our Easter emphasis is always on our Lord Jesus Christ! The first 250 children ages four and above will receive an awesome Easter gift, including a color book depicting a Jesus-focused message. Following our Easter service, Rocket City Helicopters and Pilot Tim will drop 3,000 Easter eggs for the children to find. Food trucks will also be available to feed you and your family.
• As a major part of our Easter service, children four-years-old through fourth grade will sing the first song on stage. If you wish for your children to sing with us, please bring them to rooms W 4/5/6 approximately fifteen minutes before the service to be checked in and receive name tags. The children will be escorted back to rooms 4/5/6 following the first song for immediate pick-up and enjoyment of the remainder of the service with your families. Please email Vickie Adkins with any questions you may have.
• Our cpcKids Ministry is also excited to announce that VBS registration for CrossPointe members and regular attenders begins Palm Sunday (this week)! Your child will be placed in his/her rising grade for VBS. Please see the attached links. St. Patrick's Day is my second favorite holiday, both as a German-Irish-English guy and, of course, as a Boston Red Sox fan. But the main reason is because of St. Patrick and his astounding Christian walk and selfless life. "Because of this [God's love and compassion] I cannot - I will not - be silent. I will tell of the great blessings God has granted to me and the grace he has shown me in this land of slavery. Because this is the way we should behave toward God-when he has shown us why we were wrong and we have admitted our sins, we should praise him and proclaim his kindness to everyone in the world." -St. Patrick, Confession.

Good morning, Parents! I pray that you and your families are doing well! We are entering Lent Season which begins Wednesday, March 2nd and ends Saturday, April 16th (the day before Resurrection Sunday/Easter). Some interesting notes regarding Lent: Lent is not mentioned in Scripture. It is, instead, a worshipful tradition in the Church to remember Jesus’s 40-Day Fast. Lent is a time in which many Christians fast from something (sacrifice something) to have an intentional focus on Jesus Christ as we approach Easter. It is a time to read additional Scripture, pray more, and to think of everything of Jesus did (and does) for us. It is a time to draw close to our LORD! Lent is not a time of rules or activities or formulas. It is a time in which you may give up certain foods, or television shows, or music genres, or a host of other things. It may be a time when you commit to read the Gospels. It may be a time when you commit to a new way of serving Christ! Although Lent has often been associated with the Catholic Church, it is celebrated worldwide by many additional Christian denominations and interdenominational churches. Note the attached link from Lifeway Christian Resources for a beautiful explanation of this Season:

The theme of Lent is spiritual preparation for Easter symbolized by the three spiritual disciplines of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.

Valentine's Week RomCom Movie Review #4: Alladin (animated movie, Disney+): This classic is a must for the whole family, although the setting is not in a Christian culture (there is a reference to Allah by the Sultan). Although animated, some consider this the late Robin Williams greatest role (the genie). Will Smith's real-life version is also excellent.

"But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8, CSB).

Valentine's Week RomCom Movie Review #3: Beauty and the Beast (animated movie, Disney+): Other than Tangled, this is easily the best of the Disney princess movies - particularly better than those from a previous generation that included Snow White, Cinderella, etc. For one thing, Belle saves the Beast before the Beast saves Belle, a nice change from the Prince Charming excess in other Disney movies. Secondly, the music is great. Finally, it is hilarious (especially the Gaston song).

"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor' and hate your enemy. But I tell you, love your ememies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be children of your Father in heaven. For he cause his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous" (Matthew 6:43-45, CSB).

Valentine's Week RomCom Movie Review #2: Tangled (animated movie; Disney+): This movie is a hilarious revision of the Rapunzel story comprised of the title character, a bumbling hero, an antagonist, a horse named Maximus, and a chamelon named Pascal. It is an awesome romantic movie which is funny enough to keep the attention of even those who do not enjoy animated romcoms, and it is completely appropriate for every age.
