The Cuirim House is modeled after a Celtic monastery. “Cuirim” is a Celtic word meaning “incarnation”. Celtic monasteries were the exact opposite.

Cuirim Outreach began in 2003 to make disciples of Jesus Christ through service to the poor of Nogales, Sonora working under the direction of the local church in the Celtic monastic tradition of work, study and prayer.http://cuirim.org For our ministry, the word is used to refer to the incarnation of God in human form: Jesus Christ. red away from the world. They would be built within a community and were intended to be a light in the darkness, living among the people they sought to serve. The Cuirim House is intended to blend with the existing structures in the community we serve. There is no air conditioning in the summer or heat in the winter. There is no hot water heater. The floors are cement and the roof is tin. Dust from the street sneaks into each room. By sharing these living conditions with our neighbors, we can begin to understand their daily struggles and open our hearts to their needs. We want to model how Jesus Christ lived, sharing in our infirmities and struggles and pointing the way to living daily in the reality of the Kingdom of God.

So much joy at the soccer field/park this past week! After over a year of the neighborhood being fairly shut down, everyone started to gather at the park again last week. A lot of laughter, games, and good food.

Our dear friend Carlos went into the presence of the Lord this morning. He was surrounded by his family and now he is more fully alive than we have ever seen him. We celebrate him and his life and the goodness of God who allowed us to share so many rich years with such an inspiring, passionate, and faithful man of God. Though we are deeply saddened, it is difficult not to have joy at the same time because Carlos brought so much joy to each of us. He lived his life fully, and his life is a call to each of us to surrender fully to Jesus and live without fear or regret. Carlos sought first the things of God, and we pray that you would take a moment and allow God to speak to you through his story. Remember that God has a story of purpose and life for you too. It is never to late for you to return to the God who loves you, or to begin to walk with God today for the first time.
Join us in treasuring and mourning our friend. Please post a picture or memory of Carlos and his family and how he touched you. I just talked to Carlos. Doctors are confident they can manage the pain to make his days with his family as peaceful as possible., but they cannot do much else to fight off the cancer. He has not been able to eat and has only had water for several days. Thanks to all of you who gave for the surgery, it gave him the gift of these two months at home with his family. Update for Carlos - He is more comfortable and able to talk, walk and eat. Next week he will hopefully begin radiation to treat the remaining part of the tumor. Please pray for strength and hope during this next chapter in his battle with cancer.

Carlos came through the surgery. The doctors were able to remove most of the tumor. His pain should be greatly reduced. Please keep praying as they decide on a course of treatment and as he recovers. Thank you for standing with Carlos and his family.

Carlos' 8-hour surgery is underway to remove a brain tumor. The Lord is Mighty to save. Thanks for showing the way of Jesus this week as your prayers and support have poured in and reminded us of the goodness of God, and the goodness of humanity when we use our influence for good. Do you remember playing in the tub as a child? I had these little rubber ducks that I used to line up. After telling me to get out several times, the only way my mom could get to me move was by pulling the drain plug. But I kept right on playing as the water level dropped. Eventually, the water was gone and I started to get cold. COVID feels like somebody pulled the plug. It's getting harder and harder to line up our little ducks and we don't like it.
