Hey all, here is our 5th episode of the season for the Living Vertizontal Podcast.

This week we move into Luke 19:1-10. Within these verses, Jesus comes into Jericho and encounters Zacchaeus. From this passage we talked about the exciting reality that God is pursuing us long before we may even be looking for Him. Even further, an authentic encounter with Jesus transforms our hearts, impacting the way we live our lives.

As we wrap up our conversation through Luke 18, we’re reminded that sometimes we don’t see clearly. We miss what God is doing. We get distracted by our circumstances. We may even lose sight of Jesus.

But here’s the good news: Jesus never loses sight of us.

He sees us in our blind spots.
He meets us in our struggles.
And He keeps pursuing us even when we can’t see the way forward. 🙏

You may not see it all but Jesus does. And He’s not giving up on you.

Jesus told His disciples to “look.” Yet they struggled to see what He was showing them.

Then, in the same passage, a blind man recognizes exactly who Jesus is.

Sometimes physical sight isn’t the same as truly seeing Jesus.

👀 Are we really seeing what Jesus is trying to show us?

What if our lack of dependence on Jesus is keeping us from seeing Him clearly?

Luke 18:31–43 reminds us that true dependence means trusting Jesus in all things and all seasons even when we think we already know or understand.

When we fully depend on Him, we begin to see Him more clearly.

This week we explore Luke 18:31-43. In this passage, Jesus predicts His death for a third time, and then encounters a blind man in Jericho. Through the passage we are challenged to consider whether we are truly seeing Jesus for who He is, or simply seeing Him through the lens of our own expectations. As we learn from both the disciples and the blind man, we are reminded that seeing Jesus clearly shapes the way we trust Him, follow Him, and point others toward what He is doing in our lives.

It’s easy to fall into the mindset of, “I’ve got this. I can handle it on my own.”

But the truth is, we were never meant to do life that way.

Sometimes the hardest part isn’t figuring everything out… it’s letting go and trusting God.
