COUNSEL FROM ELDER BALLARD

When you encounter the unfamiliar concepts of Cosmism in the Restored Gospel, it may be well to consider the words of Elder M. Russell Ballard:

"When we come across something in Church history or when we struggle with a point of the Church's doctrine, it can feel uncomfortable to ask questions about it. . . .

"We need to do better in responding to honest questions. Although we may not be able to answer every question about the COSMOS or about our history, practices, or doctrine, we can provide many answers to those who are sincere." - LDS Living

It's stunning how easily cosmism of the ancients explains the monuments and other structures they built. If only the archeologists would study the cosmism of antiquity, most of their "mysteries." would disappear.

WARNING to all:

All the rhetoric about a sign in September is a gross misreading of scripture. Identifying constellations in our present skies as a fulfillment of the "woman standing in the sun with the moon beneath her feet and stars over her head" is wrong.

The real explanation of this "sign," identified by John in Revelation, is found in my online course, "Exploring Revelation." Of course, it is strongly recommended that one take the basic course, "The Ancient Skies and the Restored Gospel" before attempting to understand the symbolism of Revelation.

The short rebuttal to the popular interpretation on the Internet is that John's account of the woman is a rehearsal of ancient cosmic tradition, NOT a description of a sign that will be seen in our day.

Please, people. Do not be fooled by the popular interpretation making the rounds in the church. It is another flawed attempt to predict events in our day, similar to the familiar failures of concepts such as Year 2000, the Mayan Calendar prophecy, Y2K, the Blood Moon notions, etc.
