We have some wonderful servants in our community. Thank you Officer Roy and Madawaska Police Department for all you do for us!

I would like to recognize Officer Paul Roy for going above and beyond the call of duty. Officer Roy displayed a tremendous amount of compassion when, on December 15, he was called to conduct a well being check on an elderly gentleman. During his interaction with the man, Officer Roy learned that the man hadn't eaten in "quite some time." Officer Roy took it upon himself to go into the man's kitchen to cook him some eggs and toast. Officer Roy did not do this for praise or recognition and didn't even report it to a supervisor. His actions were discovered through a random review of his body camera videos. The entire interaction took less than 20 minutes of a 12 hour shift but certainly went a long way for the man. Thank you, Officer Roy, for your kindness and compassion.

Frenchville --- Joan Gendreau Plourde, 82, passed away on December 28, 2023, at Northern Maine Medical Center. She was born on November 28, 1941, daughter of William and Yvonne (Caron) Gendreau and was the beloved wife of the late Leonard Plourde. She is survived by three children, Patricia Cathcart and her husband William of Connecticut, Barbara Roy and her husband Ronald of Frenchville, and Jeff Plourde and his wife Diane of Frenchville; seven grandchildren, Tessie, Ashley, Dustin, Curtis, Alicia, Lydia, and Kenny; 16 great-grandchildren, Ali, Addyson, Breeya, Everly, Fahrya, Alexis, Landon, Nathan, Brooklyn, Adelin, Dawson, Avery, Aiden, Clara, Trista, and Charlize; two siblings, Lionel and Alcid; along with many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by six siblings, Gertrude, Irene, Alphe, Gladys, Lucien and Elmer . A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, December 31, 2023 at the Madawaska Gospel Church. Family and friends may offer their condolences from 1 – 1:45 PM at the church, before the service. Summer Interment will be held at the Living Hope Cemetery in St. David, at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home in Fort Kent.
