Bernard Collier is a native of Macon, GA, reared and educated in the public school system. He later became an active member of a church in South Carolina where he met Maxine Rivers of Charleston, SC. They were married 1989 and are the parents of two children. Garland Blake and Gabrielle Bethany (who has gone on to be with the Lord). They faithfully served together in every area of ministry, partic

A few years later, God spoke to Bernard to facilitate a refuge for those that are wounded and in need of restoration. Based upon Matthew 11:28, New Haven Ministries was birthed, later becoming The Empowerment Center. Along with his wife, Pastor Maxine Collier, they currently pastor The Empowerment Center in Macon, GA, a mission driven ministry that is empowering communities, restoring families and impacting generations. Their Apostolic covering is Pastor Betty Phillips of Sword of the Lord Ministries Int’l in Griffin, GA who recently consecrated them as Bishops in the Lord's church. "Bishop Bernard" and "Bishop Max", as they are affectionately known, have a heart for empowering their communities through the preached Word of God, conferences, outreach, feeding programs, and daily application of biblical principles. The Empowerment Center is a multicultural non-denominational church for all people. Come be a part of "The Gathering" at The Empowerment Center. The Place of Power and Presence.
