Day 16 of Lent: A Heart of Gratitude
Scripture: “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:18
As we journey through Lent, a season of reflection, sacrifice, and spiritual renewal, we often focus on what we are giving up. However, today, let us shift our hearts toward what we are gaining—closer intimacy with God, a renewed spirit, and a deeper appreciation for His daily blessings.
Gratitude is a powerful act of worship. It transforms our hearts, aligns our focus, and deepens our faith. Even in seasons of sacrifice, gratitude reminds us that we are not alone, that God’s grace is sufficient, and that every breath we take is a gift.
Think about the things we often overlook—the rising sun, the food on our tables, the love of family and friends, the very presence of God walking with us each day. When we choose gratitude, we magnify God over our circumstances.
During Lent, as we prepare our hearts for the resurrection power of Christ, let us remember that gratitude fuels our faith. Instead of focusing on what we lack, let us praise God for His endless provision. Instead of dwelling on hardship, let us rejoice in His presence. Instead of complaining, let us lift our hands in thanksgiving.
Today, take a moment to pause and thank God for His goodness. Reflect on a few things you are grateful for and say:
“Lord, I thank You for Your love, for Your mercy, for the strength to endure, and for the hope that carries me through. I choose gratitude today and every day. Amen.”
May this Lenten season be filled with thanksgiving, joy, and the peace that comes from knowing God is always with us.
Reflection Question: What are three things you are grateful for today?
Blessings and joy on your Lenten journey.
