What a joy it was to spend this morning at Brookhaven Christian Church! I was honored to bring the message during Rev. Beth Wendl’s sabbatical season, and what a gift it was to be present for such a meaningful occasion in the life of this congregation.

We also had the privilege of celebrating the 35th anniversary of Rev. David Kenley’s ordination into Christian ministry. Thirty-five years of faithful service, pastoral presence, and covenant love for the church. What a blessing you are, David.

Thank you to the Brookhaven family for your warm welcome, and a special thank you to Paul Wendl for capturing these moments. It is good to be your partner in ministry.

What a gift it was to spend some time at Camp Christian this weekend with a group of volunteers from the Region, getting things ready for summer camp season.

Together, we tackled repairs, cleaned out and organized storage spaces, installed fire alarms in two of the cabins, and replaced the front of Cabin 9 to address water damage. The place is looking better, and our campers will walk into a space that has been cared for with love.

To everyone who gave their time and energy, thank you. This is what the church looks like when it shows up for one another.

A meaningful Pentecost Sunday today, worshiping with Union Christian Church in Watkinsville.

It was a joy to participate in the recognition of Rev. David Webb and his transfer of ordination to the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Moments like these remind me why the covenant we share across this regional family matters so deeply. Welcome, Rev. Webb. We are glad you are with us.

Grateful for Union Christian Church and for the faithful witness they offer in Watkinsville and beyond.

What a day in Augusta.

This morning I had the joy of worshiping with Central Christian Church as we celebrated Elder John Anderson and the remarkable ministry he has given to that congregation and to the Christian Church in Georgia. Years of faithful service, and the love in that room said everything.

I also made my way to First Christian Church in Augusta. I wasn’t able to connect with anyone inside, but I stood outside that building and thought about the story it holds and the story still waiting to be written there. Sometimes just showing up matters.

And I ended the day worshiping with Disciples of the Way, one of our newest congregations still in formation. The energy, the Spirit, the sense of something new being born, it was something to witness.

One city. One day. History and new life, all in the same breath. That is why this work is a gift.
