Meet Orator Pastor Gail Tolbert-Smith at STAINED GLASS!
We are honored to welcome Pastor Gail Tolbert-Smith as an orator at STAINED GLASS, an immersive experience inspired by God’s Trombones* by James Weldon Johnson.
Pastor Gail made history in 1985 as the first woman licensed to preach in the Baptist denomination in Macon, Georgia. Her groundbreaking sermon at her father's church drew a capacity crowd, even as the Baptist Association ousted him as president—a story that made front-page news. On February 2, 1989, Pastor Gail founded Universal Light Christian Center (ULCC) with just 35 people, declaring, *"We are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden" (Matthew 5:14)*. Since then, ULCC has grown into a thriving ministry, living up to her vision of shining a light in the community.
A licensed temperament therapist, social worker, and Christian counselor, Pastor Gail is a lifelong learner, holding degrees in Sociology, Christian Counseling Psychology, Christian Leadership, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Public Service Leadership with a specialization in Nonprofit Management.
Her incredible leadership and service were recognized in 2014 when she received the *"Key to the City"* of Macon for 25 years of pastoring and 30 years as a licensed minister. She has been honored as one of Georgia’s Greatest Female Pastors and currently serves as the State Parent Engagement Coordinator for the Department of Juvenile Justice.
A proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Pastor Gail is also the mother of choreographer and mime artist, James Nelson Smith III.
Join us at STAINED GLASS to hear Pastor Gail’s powerful message and experience a transformative event featuring liturgical dancers, a community choir, and live music.
