Glorious, all-wise Elisha, once you cleansed your mind and your heart of the physical pleasures all, you received the brilliant rays of the Spirit's enlightenment...

This Sunday, the 14th of June, we honor the Prophet Elisha. Of course, as the one who follows in the footsteps of the Holy Prophet Elijah (Elias), we see in both of them the same reality - our active participation in the cleansing of body and soul - and the receiving of the brilliant rays of the Spirit. May God grant us the prudence and patience to trod this same path that leads to the heavens!

Join us at Holy Cross for the Divine Services!

As a parish family, it is a blessing to grow together as a community through the sorrows and the joys in life; to know each other and to be known. In that spirit, we honored our Holy Cross graduates and this special milestone in their lives. Our two high school graduates are Dominic Economopoulos and Carter Zoumberis. Our five post secondary graduates are Christos Vasiliades (pictured) and Diana Cazacu, Sarah Drakopoulos, Marissa Goss, and Yianni Pothulakis (not pictured). We congratulate them and pray that Christ and His Holy Church remain at the heart of all they do! Και εις ανώτερα, to higher things!

Additionally, this past Sunday, we honored Presvytera Stacey on the National Sisterhood of Presvyteres (NSP) Sunday (the first Sunday in June, following the June 4th feast day of Sts. Martha and Mary, patronesses of the Presvyteres). May God bless her and the work of her hands which she does out of her great love of Christ and His Holy Church! 'Αξια, she is worthy!

On the feast of Holy Pentecost, Fr. Theodore blessed 12 new catechumens: Brandon and Jessie Heath and their children Gabe, Abigail, Merelise, Marlow, & Iris, and Michael Vogt, Adrian Parker, Joseph Viteri, Patrick Green, and Wyatt Strickland. May their journey to Baptism and Chrismation in the Holy Orthodox Church in the Lord’s time be fruitful and blessed! Fr. also blessed the engagement of Adrian and his fiancée Marisa. “Kala Stefana” (good marriage crowns) to them!|

On the Sunday after Pentecost, following ancient tradition, we celebrate the Sunday of All Saints. We hear people comment sometimes "Give God the Glory!" attempting to make a point that somehow any focus on the Saints takes "glory" away from God. What is missed in this is that "God is glorified in His Saints." The fact that there are even saints is a glorification that God is active in His creation and that through Him, these saints have become who God intended them to be - truly human. Truly those who are in the image and likeness of God. While we know the names of so many of these transfigured men and women, only God knows all their names. Thus, we honor them with a collective feast - may these holy men and women intercede for us always - and may we be inspired by their holy lives!
