An important reminder this season... ❤

My heart was hurting as I reflected on how different Christmas may look for our residents and their families this year. While I sat writing this letter, God nudged me to walk over to the Life Skills Center and have a conversation with one of our residents, James. I honestly wasn’t even sure if he was there during that time, but as I walked in the door, there he sat with a big grin as I approached. James was proud that he dressed like “Dr. T” again with a collared shirt and our CEO’s signature bow tie!
When I asked him, “James, what is most important to you about Christmas? What is normally your favorite thing about it?” Without hesitation, still holding that same sweet grin, he proclaimed, “The birth of baby Jesus!”
..That’s when it hit me. I was so caught up in socials, festivities, and traditions… but James instantly led me right back to Christ, to that manger in Bethlehem…where my wandering focus should have been all along. You see, Jesus never changes. He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Even in 2020. Even with Corona, killer hornets, and masks. Jesus still came to the Earth to save us and we can celebrate that with anticipation and excitement!
As much as Wesley Glen ministers to our residents to help them grow in their spiritual relationship with God, they often minister to us (me!) even more. God speaks through each of them every day.
