Come out to the FREE Autism Conference at Mercer University from July 9-10. Learn how to better serve your autistic parishioners, children and patients. Come learn about autism, as you may have a loved one with autism, or even you!

Our parishioner will be presenting on July 9 from 1:30-2:30 pm. Her presentation will be: "Trauma-Informed Edupreneurship:

Come out and support!

What is Autism?

Autism is a different way the brain works. Every autistic person is unique, but autism may look like:

* ☐ Communicating or interacting differently
* ☐ Preferring routines and predictability
* ☐ Having strong interests or passions
* ☐ Being sensitive to sounds, lights, textures, or crowds
* ☐ Using movements like rocking, pacing, or hand flapping to self-regulate (stimming)
* ☐ Becoming overwhelmed by changes or too much sensory input
* ☐ Needing extra time to process information or switch between tasks
* ☐ Thinking in unique ways, noticing details, and having exceptional strengths in certain areas

Autism is a spectrum. No two autistic people are exactly alike, and each person has their own unique combination of strengths, challenges, and support needs.
