Thank you Rabbi Elizabeth Bahar and State Representative Esther Panitch for your courage in standing up to hate. We are also grateful to the FBI and the US Attorney’s office for their efforts to bring this criminal to justice. Receiving the maximum sentence for this crime sends the message that hate mongering and threats will not be tolerated. The Jewish Community of Middle Georgia was deeply touched by the support of our friends and neighbors who demonstrated that hate has no home here.

32-year-old Ariel Ramos sent the threats via postcard in 2024, immediately after a House Bill defining antisemitism was passed.

✨ Shanah Tovah, Macon! Wishing our Jewish community a sweet and joyful New Year. 🍎🍯 If you’re celebrating, turn the pages to this interview of Rabbi Aaron Rubinstein in this issue. From New York to L.A. to Macon, his multitalented story is anything but ordinary. In our latest Macon Chose Me feature, Aaron shares how this city claimed his heart not once, but twice, and why the creative community, deep connections, and even a good bagel keep him here. From leading Congregation Sha’arey Israel to playing accordion and making hot sauce, Aaron’s life here is a tapestry of celebrating the arts, deep relationships, and love for the place he calls home.

Read his full journey in the Aug/Sept issue of Macon Magazine.
