Arafah Day Reminder
Assalamu Alaikum dear community members,
Today is the blessed Day of Arafah, one of the most important days in the Islamic calendar. For those performing Hajj, it is the day of standing at Arafat. For those of us not performing Hajj, it is a special opportunity for fasting, dua, repentance, dhikr, and seeking Allah’s forgiveness.
The Prophet ﷺ said that fasting on the Day of Arafah is hoped to expiate the sins of the previous year and the coming year.
Reference: Sahih Muslim, Hadith 1162
On this blessed day, let us try to:
* Fast, if we are able and not performing Hajj.
* Make sincere tawbah and ask Allah for forgiveness.
* Increase dhikr, Qur’an recitation, and salawat upon the Prophet ﷺ.
* Make dua for ourselves, our families, our parents, our children, the deceased, the Muslim Ummah, and peace for all humanity.
The Prophet ﷺ also said that the best dua is the dua on the Day of Arafah.
Reference: Jami al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 3585
A beautiful dua to recite today is:
La ilaha illa Allahu wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu, wa huwa ala kulli shay’in qadir.
Meaning:
There is no god but Allah alone, with no partner. To Him belongs the kingdom, and to Him belongs all praise, and He has power over all things.
Takbeer al-Tashreeq
Takbeer al-Tashreeq begins from Fajr on the Day of Arafah and continues after every obligatory prayer until Asr on the 13th of Dhul Hijjah.
Takbeer:
Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illa Allah.
Wallahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Wa lillahil hamd.
May Allah accept our fasting, dua, repentance, and good deeds. May Allah forgive our sins, bless our families, accept the Hajj of all pilgrims, unite the Ummah, and grant peace and mercy to all humanity.
Ameen.
