Do you need books that teach who Jesus is, from a faithfully Biblical, Lutheran view for your friend or family who doesn't speak English as a first language? LHF can help!

With nearly 1,800 titles translated in more than 185 languages, LHF stands ready to help you introduce new believers to Jesus Christ. The most recent additions to our library:

• A Child’s Garden of Bible Stories (Korean)
• Luther’s Small Catechism with Explanation (Swedish)
• Luther’s Large Catechism (Hindi)
• God’s Word For You (Tagalog – Philippines)
• “Jesus Never Fails” devotion & evangelism booklet (Igbo – Nigeria)
• Lutheran Book of Prayer (Spanish)

To order, send an email with your request and shipping address to LHF at [email protected], or call our office at (800)554-0723. As with all LHF books, there is no cost for these resources. However, anything you can send to help cover the cost of shipping (typically about $5/book) allows LHF to continue in this important work.

In Indonesia, a Southeast Asian country that’s home to the world’s largest Muslim population, LHF teams are seizing the opportunity to introduce public, private and Christian school students to the one true God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Last year, Imelda Aritonang led the LHF Indonesia team in presenting one- to three-hour programs in more than 80 schools across Jakarta and North Sumatra, where they shared Bible stories from LHF’s Indonesian A Child’s Garden of Bible Stories, conducted quiz games over the material, sang songs, made crafts and played games.

“Most of the groups we serve are mixed in terms of religious background,” Imelda said. “Even in Christian schools, it is very common to find Muslim students enrolled. In public schools, the majority are usually Muslim...In many of these places, people are truly hungry for God’s Word and grateful for resources that help them learn and grow in faith together as families.”

A special to thanks to all the LCMS children in Sunday schools and Lutheran day schools, as well as several LWMLs, who gave their mission offerings toward this project!

This Trinity Sunday, we rejoice that people all around the world are discovering the truths of Scripture, translated through the doctrinal books of the Lutheran faith. We're excited to share that LHF has recently started publishing in a new language: Hungarian! Working together with LCMS missionaries and mission partners in that country, we have now published the Hungarian edition of "Jesus Never Fails." Luther's "Small Catechism," with its clear explanation of the Trinity outlined in the Apostles' Creed, is next to be printed. Praise God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit!

Please keep our Lutheran brothers and sisters in the Nuba Mountains of Sudan in your prayers. ELCSS/S Bishop Peter Anibati Abia reports: "Thousands of residents have been displaced into the mountains; many have lost their family members, women and the elderly are starving to death. Children are dying daily due to hunger and lack of medicine. The cause of all these is the ongoing tribal war in the region. We thank God for the faithful service of Bishop Musa Alabina and his pastors who continue to minster to these suffering people. We are calling upon all people, friends and partners to assist the people of Nuba Mountains. If you would like to help in any way, let us know. LORD have mercy, Christ have mercy, LORD have mercy! Amen."

Rev. Mark Surburg, who volunteered for LHF as an instructor at the ELCSS/S seminary in South Sudan, said he has also received reports that one of the seminary's newest graduates has been seriously wounded. Echoing Bishop Peter, Lord have mercy.

"Thank you Lutheran Heritage Foundation for the partnership! This book in Amharic will go well with my course at Mekane Yesus Seminary on the Lutheran Confessions!" writes Rev. Dr. Glenn Fluegge, Seminary Program Coordinator for Lutheran Bible Translators. Rev. Dr. Fluegge teaches at Mekane Yesus Seminary in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where he will be leading his students through "Getting Into the Theology of Concord" (by Robert Preus) in the Amharic language.

LHF would like to give a shout-out to one of our valued partners in Lutheran missions, KFUO Radio. In a world filled dark and immoral messages, KFUO's Christ-centered programming shines like a beacon, providing our Lutheran family with programs and music that live out Philippians 4:8: "whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable...think on these things." We're doubly grateful for the opportunity to frequently share LHF's work on KFUO's programs, opening doors for listeners to hear for the first time about LHF's free Lutheran books in the languages of the world -- books that they then order to share the Gospel with their friends, family and neighbors who don't speak English as their first language. Thank you, KFUO, for shining the Light of Christ over the airwaves!

LHF's executive director, Rev. Dr. Matthew Heise, will be on the air with KFUO this afternoon at 1:45 p.m. EST. To listen, go to https://www.kfuo.org/ and click on the "listen live" green icon.

Thank you to our faithful donors, who have given a precious gift to people throughout India, including these in women's ministry: "Day By Day," a book of daily devotions taken from Martin Luther's writings, and translated by LHF into their Malayalam language. What a blessing to daily be in God's Word!

As reported on this page earlier, Dr. Päivi Räsänen and Bishop Juhana Pohjola (author and editor of LHF's "Male and Female He Made Them") were shockingly found guilty of “incitement against an ethnic group” for the booklet’s Biblical teachings on marriage and sexuality.

The author and editor were first charged with hate speech 7 years ago and were unanimously found “not guilty” not once, but twice in Finland's lower courts. However, by Finnish law, the prosecution is allowed to appeal. Once the case was before the Supreme Court of Finland, the decision came back 3-2: “Guilty.”

Päivi and Bishop Pohjola have each been fined, and the courts have required that certain words, phrases and sentences must be removed from the Finnish edition of “Male and Female He Created Them.” (In the United States, LHF's printed and digital editions of this booklet will remain uncensored.)

We stand with Bishop Pohjola and Päivi!

The Lutheran Heritage Foundation is committed to helping them cover the costs of these fines for the book LHF funded over 20 years ago, and which we continue to make available not only in Finnish, but also in English, Spanish, and a variety of other languages that are underway.

Can you help?

Bishop Pohjola and Päivi have each been fined one month’s wages, and the Luther Foundation - Finland has been fined 5,000 euros (a total of about $10,000 USD). Let us come together as the family of Christ to help cover these fines and remove the burden from our brother and sister’s shoulders! The link for online giving at the LHF website is found in the first comment below.

Any amount received over and above the amount of Päivi and Bishop Pohjola’s fines will go toward the future translating and printing of our good Lutheran books for the Finnish people.

Now, Bishop Pohjola and Päivi may choose to appeal to the European Court of Justice - their final hope not only for their own freedom of speech, but also for the right to freely proclaim the whole Gospel throughout the European Union.
