Habakkuk was distressed and poured his heart out to God. He didn't understand what God was doing, but instead of walking away, he keeps watch and waits for God to answer.

There is a huge difference in waiting on God and simply doing nothing. Notice in the first, he stands, he watches, and he waits.

Just because you do not understand God's plan, don't abandon your post.

Instead do these three things:
1. Bring your questions to God: Bring your confusion directly to God. Faith is not pretending everything makes sense, but rather trusting God when it doesn't.

2. Stand and wait on God: Prayer is not presenting God with your list of demands. You must also stand and wait to here from the Lord. This comes through His Word, meditating, and being in fellowship with others.

3. Wait: Habakkuk stations himself like a watchman. He does not know when the answer will come, but he intends to be there when it does. Faithfulness means staying where God has placed you even when you don't know what He is doing.

Don't confuse silence with absence.
Take your place.
Open God's Word.
Keep Praying.
Keep Watching.
Keep Trusting.

Don't Let Anger Drive

Psalm 37 is a wisdom Psalm of David. When you read about the life of David, you can sense the frustration he had. He looks around and sees wicked people prospering while faithful people are struggling. But in this Psalm we see wisdom: don't let what other people are doing determine what happens inside you. Anger makes a terrible decision-maker. Don't let anger eat you up.

David doesn't just leave us there, we see in this Psalm that we need to: 1. Trust the Lord (v.3), delight in the Lord (v.4), commit your way to the Lord (v.5), and be silent before the Lord and wait expectantly for Him (v.7).

What do we need to do in light of this verse:
1. Recognize what is provoking you: Before responding in anger, ask yourself, "why am I so angry about this?" Sometimes the issue behind it isn't what happened, it is out pride, fear, or hurt underneath it.
2. Release the outcome to God: This Psalm doesn't tell us to pretend that wrong actions are ok. It tells us that wisdom is realizing that another persons wrongs should not lead us to do wrong also. Pray before reacting.
3. Respond like Jesus: Jesus could confront sin firmly without being controlled by anger. Truth and grace can live in the same response.

Today's Thought: The behavior of others doesn't have to control my own behavior. I can surrender my anger and trust God's justice.
