James Edward Oswalt
December 15, 1935 - September 23, 2024

A beloved husband and father James Edward Oswalt passed away peacefully at Diversicare of Eupora at the age of 88.

He is survived by his wife Margaret McCarter-Oswalt, they were married for 63 yrs & 7 months.

He was born in Mathiston, Mississippi on December 15, 1935. His childhood in Webster County, Mississippi instilled a lifelong passion for helping others, farming, and an incredible work ethic. James and Margaret first met and bonded over their mutual appreciation for their large families and faith. They shared this throughout their long and happy marriage.

Oswalt served the United States Army for the years of 1957-1964. He served in Korea for two years as Military Police along the DMZ line.

After his military service, he worked in the furniture manufacturing industry for Mississippi Products Incorporated, DeSoto Furniture Manufacturing Company and Hood Furniture Incorporated, and all operated in the same location in Jackson, MS. He worked in the industry for 41 years until his retirement. He served in the position of Director of Shipping and Receiving.

He was a graduate of Cumberland High School in Cumberland, Mississippi. The school is currently known as East Webster High School.

His hobbies included gardening, auto racing, fishing, and hunting on his land. He discontinued his love of fishing after he couldn’t compete with his McCarter family.

He leaves behind his child, James Ronald Oswalt (60) of Tupelo, Mississippi. His Daughter In-Law Carmen Hyde Oswalt (57) of Brandon, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his youngest son Tony Keith Oswalt (47).

Oswalt leaves behind two siblings. Roy Oswalt of Mantee, Mississippi and Inez Holloway of Brandon, Mississippi and Sister-In Law Johnnie Oswalt of Eupora, Mississippi.

Proceeding him are his brother John David Oswald, Laura Vail, Louise White. His parents George and Lula Oswalt.

He leaves behind three grandsons and one granddaughter, Aubrey James Oswalt of El Paso, Texas, Hayden Reed McCarter Oswalt of El Paso, Texas, Zachary Hyde Oswalt of Brandon, Mississippi. His granddaughter Morgan Elise Oswalt resides in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. His only great-grandchild Aly-Rae James Oswalt resides in El Paso, Texas.

The pallbearers will be Doug Holloway, Jimmy Holloway, John McCarter, Danny Vail, Hunter Roberts, Zachary Oswalt and Aubrey Oswalt. The alternate pallbearer will be Timothy Oswald.

The funeral will be held at Wise-Reed Funeral Home in Eupora, Mississippi with burial following at Mount Hope Church of Christ in the Dancy Community in Webster County. The services will
be officiated by Bro. Shawn Nygard of Midway Church of Christ in Maben, Ms. All friends and family are welcome.

Bro. Dan Beardain

Funeral services for Bro. Dan Beardain of Winona will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, at Huntsville Church of Christ, with burial following in Huntsville Church of Christ Cemetery. Mr. Nathan Wright, Mr. Darrell Surrette, and Mr. Robert Rawson will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Wesley Beardain, Jeremy Beardain, Daniel Beardain, DeWayne Beardain, Rob Surrette, and Benjamin Wright. Will Surrette will serve as honorary pallbearer.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 21, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday, February 22, from 12:00 p.m. until service time at Huntsville Church of Christ.

Bro. Dan Beardain, 93, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023, at his home in Winona. He was born to Daniel and Emma Robinson Beardain on October 13, 1929. He was a member of Huntsville Church of Christ, where he served as minister for 34 years of his 64 years in the ministry. He drove a school bus for the former Kilmichael School system for 29 years and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

Bro. Beardain is survived by his wife, Linnie Hodges Beardain of Winona, daughter, Cynthia Forbes of Eupora; sons, Roger Beardain of Winona and David Beardain of Eupora; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

Bro. Bobby Bland had a small heart attack Wednesday morning, he is stable, and in Tupelo hospital. He will have Bi-Pass surgery Monday, July 25th. Prayers.

Cooper Cabaniss Update:

Cooper is only 4 weeks old, he has an archway in his heart that is not opening all the way. The Doctors are giving him medicine for a few days and then they will operate. Prayers and Healing.
