Weekend News

Good Friday morning! Here's to a wonderful weekend which includes worship on Sunday!

We become "laid back" in this green season of growth -- our prayer request time moves to Sunday morning.

We will sing "Your Favorite Hymns" this month. There will be a table at the front of the church where you can write down your favorite hymn number on the paper provided. Look for that hymn this month as we share in worship and music.

See you Sunday at 10:00 for Sunday School and 11:00 AM for worship.

Can’t we all relate to Ginger?

Can’t we all relate to Ginger?

I had a doctor’s appointment this morning. While I was waiting for the doctor to come in, I get a text from my husband:

“It’s water day at school…”

Of course it is. And of course I forgot.

May is “Maying” around here. I can’t remember all the special days. Beach day, water day, field day, awards day. The list goes on and on. Not to mention the ball games and doctors appointments and work schedule.

I literally emailed my son’s teacher yesterday and asked if they were having an end of year party, and if so, did she still need anything. For all I knew they’d already had it.

~~~
My husband’s running home to find out littlest’s swimsuit so she can have fun at her preschool’s water day. And if he can’t find it, I’m sure she’ll have fun in her shorts and t-shirt.
Moral of the story is we’re all just doing the best we can. Remembering a lot. Forgetting some. Loving always. And it’s the loving that’s the most important anyway.
So if you’re in the throes of the end of school, or just a hectic season in general, take a deep breath. You’re not alone. And remember what’s most important. ❤️
Hello on Friday! Have you thanked God for the rain? After needing rain so badly it's wonderful to be blessed with some. Blessings are ours everyday!
We celebrated Pentecost last Sunday and this Sunday we celebrate the Trinity. It all begins at 10:00 AM with Sunday School and continues with worship at 11:00 AM.
Hope to see you in your green chair on Sunday!
We remember on this Memorial Day those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for us in service to America. Thank you!
On Sunday we celebrate Pentecost -- 50 days after Easter and the coming of the Holy Spirit. Wear Red when you come to worship at 11:00 AM!
Our church council met and thought that a summer break would be good on Wednesdays and give us a spark as we head into a new church year in August.
We will NOT have regular prayer meeting in June or July. Our prayer time will move to Sunday worship. We will have fellowship supper/devotional at Chatters, Wed June 17 and Wed July 22. 6:00 for supper, 6:30 for devotional.
We will have an all church picnic luncheon on Sunday, July 19.
See you in RED on Sunday!
Happy Birthday this Week to: Pat Murphy (18th) and April Dotson (24th)!
Hello on Monday! Make it a great week and come Wednesday at 6:30 PM for prayer meeting, led by Cheryl West. Choir is at 7:15 PM. Mid week we all need a refresher and prayer time.
Blessings on Rachel Threlkeld who joined with our church and was baptized yesterday in our worship. This decision will shape her life and all of us as we realized what Jesus has and is doing in our lives and our church.
Pray for Franklin who lead us for now and pray that the Lord will send a Pastor to lead us in our continuing journey.
We are between Jesus' Ascension and Pentecost Sunday when the Holy Spirit establishes the Church. We will celebrate the Holy Spirit on Sunday -- Wear Red!
Colin Milligan
Colin Chase Milligan is the son of Lee and Ashley Milligan and the brother of sisters Sierra and Emmalee Milligan. Colin will be graduating from Toombs County High School this year as an Honor Graduate with Distinction. Colin has attended The Oaks since he attended elementary school at RTCA. During middle school he developed a passion for music and transferred to Toombs County Middle School where he became a member of the band as a tuba player. His eighth grade year he became a member of the Toombs County Redcoat Marching Band and quickly found a love for the marching arts. He served in several leadership roles with the Redcoats as Tuba Section Leader, Brass Captain, and Band Captain. He also had the opportunity to march with Atlanta CV Drum and Bugle Corps for two seasons as they competed in Drum Corps International’s World Championships with fourth place finishes both years. He has continued growing as a musician throughout high school, earning spots every year in the Sweet Onion Area Honor Band as well as in the Georgia Music Educators Association District Honor Band. His senior year, he advanced to the second round of auditions for the State Honor Band, the first student from Toombs County to do so in many years. Colin also plays string bass with the TCHS Orchestra and electric bass with the TCHS Jazz Band. He found a love for singing his senior year, joining the TCHS Chorus. He was able to perform with the boy’s quartet on the Literary Team, winning Region honors and competing at the State Literary Meet with the barbershop quartet. Colin has also been a member of the Oaks Ukulele Ensemble since its inception. Through his extensive musical experiences, Colin has developed a love for teaching others the things he learned, especially from his instructors at Atlanta CV, to the other students in the Toombs County music program. He will be attending Georgia Southern University in the fall as a Music Education major in the Gretsch School of Music. He has earned a scholarship to the school and will be recognized as a Carter Scholar in the School of Music. Colin’s family is incredibly proud of the young man he has become and are looking forward to watching him soar.
