Winter Weather Sunday Dec 7 Closing! -

Out of love for our congregation and neighbors, and after prayerful consideration, we are canceling in-person worship and church activities for Sunday December 7 due to winter weather.

Dear beloved in Christ,

Out of love for our congregation and neighbors, and after prayerful consideration, we are canceling in-person worship and church activities for Sunday November 30 due to dangerous winter weather. IL DOT advises against travel for the next 24 hours and UPS and Amazon are adjusting or suspending deliveries.

Scripture reminds us that “the prudent see danger and take refuge” (Proverbs 22:3), and Jesus commands us to love our neighbors as ourselves (Mark 12:31). In this spirit, we believe staying off hazardous roads is a faithful choice, not a lack of faith.

Bereavement Announcement - Charlotte Betty Jane Slechta -

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Charlotte B. Slechta in Lyons, Illinois, who passed away on July 27, 2025, at the age of 96. She was a beloved member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Lyons, IL.
