Today is Monday of the Tenth Week in Ordinary Time! When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain, and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him. He began to teach them, saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven. Thus they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Matthew 5:1-12

Today is the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, also called Corpus Christi! Join us for our 9am Mass today, at the recessional we will be holding a Eucharistic Procession outdoors to share our love of the Lord! All are welcome to join us for this procession of our faith! Jesus said to the Jewish crowds: "I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world." The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?" Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever." John 6:51-58

Today is Saturday of the Ninth Week in Ordinary Time! In the course of his teaching Jesus said, “Beware of the scribes, who like to go around in long robes and accept greetings in the marketplaces, seats of honor in synagogues, and places of honor at banquets. They devour the houses of widows and, as a pretext, recite lengthy prayers. They will receive a very severe condemnation. ”He sat down opposite the treasury and observed how the crowd put money into the treasury. Many rich people put in large sums. A poor widow also came and put in two small coins worth a few cents. Calling his disciples to himself, he said to them, “Amen, I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the other contributors to the treasury. For they have all contributed from their surplus wealth, but she, from her poverty, has contributed all she had, her whole livelihood.” Mark 12:38-44

Today is the Memorial of Saint Boniface, Bishop and Martyr! Saint Boniface is an English Benedictine monk widely known as the "Apostle of Germany". Commissioned by Pope Gregory II to evangelize the Germanic tribes, he reorganized the German Church, founded numerous monasteries, and was martyred by Frisian pagans. Born in Wessex, England, he left a promising monastic career to preach the Gospel in Frisia and Germany. He is famously associated with Chopping down an oak tree sacred to the Norse god Thor. When he was unharmed by the pagans, many locals converted, recognizing Christianity's truth. In 754, while preparing new converts for confirmation in Frisia, Boniface and 52 companions were attacked and killed by a group of bandits. His remains were brought to the famous Abbey of Fulda, Germany, which became a great national shrine. Masses on this day often recall the courage of the Apostles and the cost of following Christ.

Today is Thursday of the Ninth Week in Ordinary Time! One of the scribes came to Jesus and asked him, "Which is the first of all the commandments?" Jesus replied, "The first is this: Hear, O Israel!
The Lord our God is Lord alone! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these." The scribe said to him, "Well said, teacher. You are right in saying, He is One and there is no other than he. And to love him with all your heart, with all your understanding, with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is worth more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices." And when Jesus saw that he answered with understanding, he said to him, "You are not far from the Kingdom of God." And no one dared to ask him any more questions. Mark 12:28-34

Today is the Memorial of Saint Charles Lwanga and Companions, Martyrs! This date honors 22 young Catholic men and 23 Anglican companions executed in 1886 by Kim Mwanga II of Buganda (present-day Uganda) for refusing to renounce their faith and submit to his immoral demands. King Mwanga II of Buganda grew increasingly hostile to the Christian faith, which was gaining ground in his royal court, and demanded that his pages submit to his advances. Charles Lwanga, the chief of the royal pages, protected his fellow pages from the king's demands and instructed them in the Catholic faith. After being imprisoned and refusing to abandon their religion, Lwanga and his companions were marched to Namugongo and burned to death on June 3rd, 1886. Despite the brutality, the faith of these martyrs caused Christianity to grow rapidly in Uganda. They are the first martyrs of Sub-Saharan Africa.

Today is Tuesday of the Ninth Week in Ordinary Time! Some Pharisees and Herodians were sent to Jesus to ensnare him in his speech. They came and said to him, “Teacher, we know that you are a truthful man and that you are not concerned with anyone’s opinion. You do not regard a person’s status but teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it lawful to pay the census tax to Caesar or not? Should we pay or should we not pay?” Knowing their hypocrisy he said to them, “Why are you testing me? Bring me a denarius to look at.” They brought one to him and he said to them, “Whose image and inscription is this?” They replied to him, “Caesar’s.” So Jesus said to them, “Repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God.” They were utterly amazed at him. Mark 12:13-17
