Dear Church, Throughout time, humanity has reached for language, imagery, symbolism, and metaphor to try to describe God. Soaring cathedrals and ineffable sacred artwork sometimes get at the *feeling* we have in the presence of God, but perhaps in day to day life we merely grasp at the glimpses of God given to us in the stories of the faith. Today, we are gathered again into God’s story through the mystery of God who is triune, yet is also one.

Good morning, Dear Church! Come be gathered into the whirlwind of the Holy Spirit’s breath of life this morning as the Pentecost festival dawns and Eastertide draws to an end. Two of our Confirmands will affirm their baptism during worship, and we give thanks for the ways the Holy Spirit is stirred up in their lives and ours. Don’t forget to wear your fieriest red colors!

Dear Church, Life happens fast, as they say. From diagnoses to job changes to news cycles and all the rest, we are no strangers to the work of adjusting our expectations when challenges arise. In the waning days of Eastertide, we hear scripture stories in the midst of challenging changes, too: stories of Jesus praying for his beloveds ahead of his crucifixion, stories of Jesus ascending to God, stories of disciples wondering what happens next in life. “Where do we go from here?” we might ask. Let’s lean into that question together today as the Seventh Sunday of Easter beckons us toward more resurrection possibilities.
