In a world where so much can undermine our faith or pull us off track, steadfastness is often a rare and elusive trait. James longs for his readers to be steadfast. His letter meets us in our suffering and sickness, our trials and temptations, our wealth and poverty, our ups and downs. He confronts our sin, our speech, and our pride. He encourages believers to have a more resilient and concrete faith: not just to hear the word, but to do it. He calls us to persevere in truth in a world of lies, to see that God’s steadfast love is ultimately the source of our steadfast faith.

Join us this semester as we study the book of James using the Steadfast Bible Study by Courtney Doctor. This nine-week study will guide us in observing, interpreting, and applying the text, as we seek to be steadfast in our devotion to Jesus. Why should I join a Scripture Memory Group?
* Participating in a group is a great way to implant God’s Word in your heart and mind.
* As you memorize 2-3 verses each week you can meditate on that truth all week long.
* At the end of the week when everyone shares a video of the verses they memorize, members are encouraged by hearing others recite God’s Word.
* There is good accountability from being in a group.
* By adding new verses to the verses you have already memorized, you will be able to recite and meditate on large portions of scripture in just a few weeks.
* BONUS: It’s fun seeing the videos and getting to know one another! 😁

The Align Women’s Retreat: At Jesus’ Feet
April 22-24, 2022 at The Cove in Asheville, NC.

The retreat is right around the corner and we don’t want you to miss out!

What can you expect?
*Clean and beautiful accommodations.
*Delicious food.
*Time away from responsibilities to focus on Jesus.
*Free time Sat afternoon.
*4 teaching sessions, including prayer, worship, and personal reflection.

Together we will examine 3 passages of scripture where Mary was at the feet of Jesus. How do we sit at Jesus’ feet? What does that practically look like and what are the results?

Do you feel distracted by many things? Do you ever feel shamed when reading the story of Martha serving and Mary sitting? I mean, someone needs to cook the dinner, right?

Do you ever feel like Jesus isn’t showing up on time for you? Do you believe that He actually will do what you know He is capable of doing?

There is so much that we can learn from the interaction Jesus had with Mary and Martha. These are familiar passages to many but let’s make it practical. Cause Sister, we all know that we can’t actually “sit” all day long!

Align Women’s Retreat at The Cove in Ashville, NC. This year’s retreat is entitled, “At Jesus’ Feet”.

Dates/ schedule: April 22-24, 2022: check-in is 3:00-5:00pm on Friday. The retreat begins with dinner around 6:00 and ends with a box lunch for the road on Sunday. There are 4 teaching sessions. Saturday afternoon is free time to reflect, hike, go shopping, take a nap or whatever you choose to do! 6 delicious buffet style meals are included.

It takes approximately 5 hour to drive to The Cove. Need a ride? We can help with carpooling to make the road trip more fun!

Accommodations: 2 women per room. 2 beds in the room.

When we look at the scriptural accounts involving Mary and Martha, we tend to find shame in any “busy” tendencies we have and then conclude that we need to do less and sit more. But when we look closely, we learn some distinct ways that Jesus expressed both value and honor to both women. As always, the heart is His primary concern. Join women of Heritage as we journey toward posturing our hearts at Jesus’ feet.

Scripture memorization is a great way to meditate on God’s Word. It also provides truth as a weapon to combat the lies of the enemy. Scripture memorization isn’t always easy. It takes time and intentionality. Joining a scripture memory group is a great way to have encouragement and accountability to stick with it. This semester the Scripture Memory groups will spend 10 weeks memorizing John 14. It works out to about 3 verses per week.

Here’s how the group works:
1. Register with this link:

2. You will be assigned to a group.
3. You will be given instructions and will be invited to join your group on the Signal app.
4. Each week you memorize the given passage, then record a video of yourself reciting it. This is nothing formal or professional. Just use the camera in your phone. Not feeling camera worthy that day? No problem! Just video your puppy playing while you say your verses off camera!!! It’s easy!
5. Upload your video to the group chat on Signal (this can sound intimidating but it is so nice for everyone to see one another and becomes “normal” as you do it) Enjoy watching the videos of others in the group as they say the verses. Hearing others recite the verses helps it stick in your mind.

Exciting News!!!!! This semester Tues Morning Women’s Bible Study will be back in the church building with in person teaching! We will resume an in person teaching time as a large group but we will also have small group discussion time in individual rooms! It’s the best of both worlds….the fellowship of being with many HBC Women and hearing from our teachers, plus the more intimate atmosphere of each group meeting in individual rooms for discussion. Some groups will continue meeting in homes. PLEASE check the link below for days and times so that you can register for a specific group. Childcare is provided for Tues morning groups that meet at church.

As we gather together this semester we will be looking at Old Testament stories that point to our need for a Savior. Jesus is the answer to our need and the source of our Joy!
