His Touch Ministries, Inc. Marriage Enrichment, Restoration, and Reformation
We are a 501c3, not-for-fee ministry. We are a couple who work with couples.

We provide intensive counseling, accountability and direction from a Christian perspective. I (Chuck) have over 40 years of ministry experience. Jo has labored with me for nearly 25 years in this venue. Folks love the idea that we (both of us) work together. We are practical, confrontational and unashamedly point people to the truth of God's view of marriage.

November 2025

Dear Supporters & Friends:

It is an oddly warm day for this time of year. I’m grateful to have the windows open and enjoy the fresh air. My four grape tomato plants are still producing in spite of the cold nights. My geraniums are still blooming. I’ve worked hard with this cooler season to complete some outside projects before the real cold sets in – staining, potting plants, putting fresh paint on a couple of things, etc. I need to mulch a row of little trees along the driveway, clean out my big shed and paint the picnic table. I’d love to get fresh paint on the metal shed but I’m not sure we’ll have enough warmer days to get that one done.

Making a list. It’s that time of year. I bet you’ve started picking up some Christmas gifts and thinking about what you want to fix for Thanksgiving dinner. We have a list of about a dozen to share Thanksgiving dinner with us. I’m even contemplating some inside projects to work on during the winter.

I am a list maker. Charles loves to have a list just so he can check things off. He even adds things he’s gotten done to his To Do list so he can put a checkmark beside them. One of the times he got in trouble at home was when he found Brittany’s list of math assignments to complete and he checked them off “for” her. She wasn’t thrilled that he beat her to that task.

I want to suggest a list for you to make, something maybe a little different. Why not make a list of all the things you have to be grateful for? I don’t love to mop the kitchen floor but all the crumbs mean that I and a bunch of others who’ve been here with us have enjoyed a few fine meals and great fellowship. The leaves need to be raked up but the flaming colors remind me of how beautiful it can be to let things go. Laundry is an enjoyable “chore” for me, but it also means I have plenty and I love the smell of fresh clothes and linens.

We have a new couple beginning this week. The first few meetings are often tense, but we continue to be given opportunity by God to be tools in His hand as He invites another couple to experience the wonder of a restored relationship. Your support of HTM is humbling and encouraging all at the same time. We truly do thank God for you.

And of all the things you might find to put on that list, it is our prayer that you just keep it going – perhaps all the way until this time next year – just to revel in the wonder of the steadfast love of our Father.

Wishing we could share all our blessings with you; we do wish you a very wonder-full Thanksgiving.

Much Love,

Jo

300 Gold Coins Found Locked in Pompeii Safe - What Jesus Warned 50 Years Before the Eruption

October 2025

Dear Supporters & Friends:

I just finished browsing through an online auction. Most of them are estate-type sales after someone has passed. This one even included the clothes in the closet. I am always intrigued by the “collections” of things that some folks amass. These folks had a substantial amount of fancy, handmade knives. I’m watching a small pretty quilt and an old handmade table to use on the porch. I find myself interested in who the people were whose belongings I look through. Often, I feel like I know some things about them because of the possessions they have left behind.

As I think about what I discover about these folks, I glance around at our home and try to imagine what others would assume about us because of what we own and display. I’m grateful (for multiple reasons) that we have downsized. We still have room for a friend to stay and for a modest sized group to meet, but we don’t have lots of unused rooms anymore. Glad for enough. My walls speak of Christ and family and love. But the auctions offer the option to bid on the contents of shelves, drawers and closets. I’ve always wondered about all the notes I’ve written Charles through the years and what others (my children) might think about all of those. :o

How about you? What’s in your closets? What would someone who doesn’t know you think was most valuable to you by looking through your things? It’s obvious that we love to read, that I love to create a homey atmosphere, that we need moving air (ceiling fans in every room!), that we enjoy comfort more than aesthetics.

Most of us “show” our priorities by what we spend our time and money on. Your checkbook or bank account reflects where your money goes. If you’ve never taken the time to track your spending, it’s an eye-opening exercise for most. Financial counselors suggest what percentage of your income should go to housing, transportation, clothing and the like. Scripture talks about “sowing and reaping,” some of that is resources, some of it is time – how we give of ourselves. Sowing bountifully reaps bountifully.

We have found it to be true over and over again. God offers us the opportunity to invest in the lives of others and we are always better for the effort. Sometimes we are given the chance to watch God heal a relationship. Sometimes, we make new friends, or learn a new truth for ourselves, or simply experience the joy of selflessness. You show what you value by the gifts you send to this ministry – the value of marriage, of family, of identity in Christ, of redemption and reconciliation.

So, we are once again grateful to you for displaying who you and what you find important by your kindness to us.

We are blessed,

Jo

September 2025

Dear Supporters & Friends:

I am happily “re-decorating” my house for fall. It’s still a bit warm but I love this season – the cooler days and cold nights, the colorful foliage, apples and festivals. I just completed crocheting a new blanket with all the autumn colors. I can hardly wait for Charles to build the first campfire so we can roast hotdogs, usually with a couple of friends. Open windows, fresh breezes, and long sleeve shirts. Grateful that we live in a place that has all the seasons. I’ll be just as excited for the first snowfall.

We just met with a fellow for a couple of hours. I have to run to the store in a bit to collect some things a friend in the hospital needs. I’ll go see her tomorrow. Charles met with one of his men’s groups at Ledo’s yesterday. My Tribe was here last evening. In between the ministry activities, we are blessed to spend time with one another. This age and stage of life is not as frenetic as the days when the kids were being home-schooled and my mom was living with us with Alzheimer’s. We still host multiple groups and meet with folks. There is time spent in prep for group studies and meetings. But there is also time to share devotions, take a walk with a friend, do some exercising, pet the cat.

Much like the seasons of the year, there are seasons of life. Some we meet with enthusiasm like getting married, having a child, completing a degree. Some are not as welcome like having to hire folks to take care of things I used to be able to do myself, figuring out Medicare, saying farewell to friends as they transition into life with Jesus face-to-face.

Change is sometimes great and sometimes hard, but always an opportunity. Each “new” thing is both exhilarating and terrifying – but a chance to grow, to depend more deeply on Father God, to be used of Him in new ways. I can’t help but believe that these seasons come and change because Scripture says, “Faithful in little, faithful in much.” (Luke 16:10) As we mature in our faith and trust God more and more, He gives us new things to trust Him with and for.

Pay attention to where He is leading. Perhaps reflect back on lessons already learned that may be useful in this new season. He’s been too good to all of us to doubt Him now.

We remain blessed by all you do and give to keep us focused on the mission of this ministry.

Happy Fall!

Jo

August 2025

Dear Friends and Supporters:

Last summer as Allie and her family left for China, we needed to make a trip to Maryland for a funeral. Again, this year right after they left, I had to make a trip to Maryland for a funeral. It was an eerie feeling to repeat since that was when Charles contracted Legionnaires Disease beginning his two-month hospital stay. We were already aware of the dates as they came. He didn’t need to travel with me this time and I am safely back home, feeling grateful all over again for God’s healing and that Charles is still here with me.

Scripture, especially Paul, tells us to remember – where we came from, the faithfulness of God, and His promises. It was once a common practice, mostly on Sunday nights, to have a time of testimony. Our pastor had one of our congregation share just a few Sundays back. We tend to remember the things we “rehearse.” I repeat favorite stories. It’s amazing to be in a group of folks and have them recount shared activities. They remember details I don’t. The reminders engage my heart again.

God has been and is faithful. When tough times come, I can rest in what a I KNOW about Him, about how well He’s cared for me in the past, how even in my times of doubt and fear, He remains faithful. Have you ever taken the time to somehow record some His blessings to and over you? Reading back through journals and sitting around recounting stories solidify my trust in our God Who never fails, even when I don’t understand.

Sometimes, the folks who come here are swimming in the deep sea of loss and brokenness. They are far from the mountaintop of victory and often are wallowing in doubt. But that’s the thing about the faithfulness of God. He is near the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Ps. 34:18 He is drawn in compassion toward us in our darkest moments. Even when I feel alone, I know I am not; He is with me.

But Scripture also states that He inhabits the praises of His people. (Ps. 22:3) So, on that mountain, He is there! As I remember His faithfulness and rejoice over it, praising Him, He is with me. That’s another of those promises. He says, I will never leave you nor forsake you. (Heb. 13:5), and,
I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine. (SoS 6:3)

God is good, all the time. And all the time, God is good! Praising God with and for you.

Thankful for His Faithfulness,
Jo
