This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it! Today our focus in worship is why God prefers mercy to sacrifice. Our lectionary scriptures are Hosea 5:15-6:6 and Matthew 9:9-13. What do these scripture passages demonstrate to us the nature of God's love for us?

Happy Pentecost and Aldersgate Sunday! Today we celebrate the gift and power of the Holy Spirit being poured out to those gathering in Jerusalem in Acts 2:1-21. We also remember how John Wesley's heart was "strangely warmed" at Aldersgate when he heard the preface commentary written by Martin Luther on the book of Romans, particularly influenced by Romans 8. We will also look at how in Numbers 11:24-30 God multiplied the gift of leadership and prophecy among the Israelites.

Happy Mother's Day! We continue our worship series "Embracing an Adverbial Faith" by learning about the story of Joshua and leading courageously. How did Joshua in the Old Testament exhibit courage? What can we learn from his example along with Paul in Ephesians 6:10-18 describing the armor of God.
