Our goal is to point others to Christ, through the skills and talents that God has blessed each one of us with. We accomplish this by prayer, studying of Gods word and by seeking opportunities for us to bring someone into the fold.

We can sometimes think the Christian life is about feeling comfortable. But that’s not always the case. God often asks us to step out in faith into situations that are uncomfortable. He gives us exactly what we need, though, to persevere even when life isn’t what we expected. We’ll see you at 5:30 p.m. Sunday night as we conclude this series.

Staff Devotional - David Johnson - Sunday School Director

When you plan to plant a garden, you consider a lot of variables: What to plant, the length of the growing season, the amount of rain and sunshine, and the size of your garden. All these things are part of the process of planting a garden. At the end of the growing season, you hope to have harvested vegetables from the plants you have planted. You notice what crops did well in your land and what didn’t. You start planning for next year.
Our Christian lives should be the same way. We need to observe what we accomplished this past season and what did not turn out as we had hoped. We need to make changes to correct any negative actions on our part. In correcting our actions, we need to pray and ask for forgiveness and for guidance in what to do in the future.
As Chestnut Hill enters a time of revitalization, we all need to pray and ask God for guidance on what we, as individuals, need to do differently.
My mom always told me to “Do unto others as you want them to do unto you.” If you want others to treat you as a brother or sister in Christ, you need to treat them as a brother or sister in Christ. Open your arms in love and welcome them into the family of God.
Part of the life of a brother or sister in Christ is to go out into the world and tell others about Christ. When was the last time you told someone about God’s love?

There is never a good time to run out of gas or for your phone to die, but it happens frequently. Some of us may not have even known we were running low before it was too late, while others pushed their luck until the tank or battery ran dry. But, regardless of your awareness, when the gas or battery pater runs out, the car or phone stops, and nothing can get them going until they are refueled or recharged. In our last session of Holy Habits, we unpack what it looks like to find rest in a tired world. We’ll see ya Sunday night at 5:30 p.m.!

Imagine the excitement of seeing someone you love after not seeing them for a long time. Or maybe being surprised by unexpected gift. The things we get excited about we want to share with others. Are we excited about the gospel of Jesus Christ? Is it exciting enough for us to share with others? Join us Sunday morning @ 9:45 a.m. as we conclude “Gone Fishing.”

Whether it is singing the praises of a steak or an actor, we love telling people about what we enjoy. It is almost impossible not to share our good experiences because we know that our joy can be multiplied through others experiencing what we have. That same type of joy comes through sharing God’s grace with our friends who don’t know Jesus. Join us for session 3 of “Holy Habits” this Sunday night at 5:30 p.m.!
