When you plan to plant a garden, you consider a lot of variables: What to plant, the length of the growing season, the amount of rain and sunshine, and the size of your garden. All these things are part of the process of planting a garden. At the end of the growing season, you hope to have harvested vegetables from the plants you have planted. You notice what crops did well in your land and what didn’t. You start planning for next year.
Our Christian lives should be the same way. We need to observe what we accomplished this past season and what did not turn out as we had hoped. We need to make changes to correct any negative actions on our part. In correcting our actions, we need to pray and ask for forgiveness and for guidance in what to do in the future.
As Chestnut Hill enters a time of revitalization, we all need to pray and ask God for guidance on what we, as individuals, need to do differently.
My mom always told me to “Do unto others as you want them to do unto you.” If you want others to treat you as a brother or sister in Christ, you need to treat them as a brother or sister in Christ. Open your arms in love and welcome them into the family of God.
Part of the life of a brother or sister in Christ is to go out into the world and tell others about Christ. When was the last time you told someone about God’s love?
