Lord, in your mercy. Hear Our Prayer.

We are deeply saddened to report that our former minister and brother David Edwards passed away 5:30am March 4 . May God's love envelope him as he is received into his Maker's presence. May his precious wife Kaye and their beautiful family feel an unexplainable peace from above as well as from below that tenderly greets them with both tears of saddness and hugs of inexplicable gratitude. Love abounds where a life lived in service to others is etched into our hearts for eternity. May God's song rise up to greet each of us as we mourn this great loss together... We miss you David!

Kaye Edwards and her family plan two services to celebrate his life. The first will be at the Sisters of Loretto Motherhouse in Loretto, Kentucky on Saturday, May 11 at 1:30 in the afternoon. A reception will follow. The second will be at the University of Lynchburg Chapel on Saturday, July 27 at 1:30pm. A reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Loretto HeadStart Program of Central Kentucky Community Action Council, 332 Hood Ave, Lebanon, KY 40033.

Kaye, Shelley, and Kent send their appreciation for the support that has come from the whole church community.

Many of you have known and loved Rev.’s David and Kaye Edwards; David served as minister of First Christian, Lynchburg, and retired in 2016 from Church of the Covenant in Lynchburg. They moved to Kentucky to be closer to family, and David has struggled with his health for the past year or so. Following is an update from Kaye, which was written last Sunday:

Yesterday we moved David from the hospital to the infirmary at the Sisters of Loretto Motherhouse. He has decided he will not receive additional chemo treatments, so he is receiving palliative care. The plan is for him to receive PT and begin to eat more so he is strong enough for me to care for him at home with hospice.

It is very sad for us, his death is coming way too soon. However, he is comfortable, pain free, for the first time in many weeks. He is at peace and so are we. We continue to ask for your prayers and thank you for your love and care.
