Sardis Baptist Church

Sardis Baptist Church Pastor: REV. James Maples Sardis was founded in 1835, when the entire area , according to court ruling, still belonged to the Cherokee People.

From the outset, the congregation prospered and was able to construct a sanctuary in 1859 just prior to the outbreak of the Civil War. Sardis’ exterior, architecture and design is classic mid-19th century. And, it is much more handsome than most of the single-gable, wood frame, clapboard churches of the era. The striking cornice returns, decorative wooden brackets, elaborate door and window frames

, large high windows with matching louvered shutters all reflect the pre-war prosperity in this part of Georgia.

Our 5th Sunday night singing was held at South Summerville Baptist Church tonight. It was wonderful. Lyerly Methodist, New Hope South Baptist, and Sardis Baptist Church were all together.

We praise God for his many blessings today. A great uplifting message was given by Bro. Barry Peppers. And then God poured more great blessings on our Church. We gained eight new members. Our hearts were filled with great joy. God is so good, all the time!!

Last Sunday night our 5th Sunday Singing started back. And the Lord blessed us so much. The singing and fellowship was so inspiring. Our next singing will be at South Summerville Baptist Church. Make plans to join us.

What an amazing service Sunday Morning, all the singing and the message were so uplifting. We gave our 1st annual college scholarship's to two well deserving young ladies. Brecklyn Brown and Emma Rae Ward give their best in all they do. We are so proud of both of you. Our church is honored to support you in your college journey.
