Preserving a historic cemetery also means preparing it for the generations that will come next.

That requires balancing two responsibilities: protecting the character and history of this special place while continuing to provide thoughtful options and services for today's families.

Our work includes cemetery care and preservation, burial and cremation options, memorialization, pre-planning assistance, veteran remembrance, community projects and long-term improvements designed to ensure Historic Lutz Cemetery remains a place worthy of the people entrusted to our care.

And we're continuing to look for new ways to serve.

Help Us Honor Every Veteran at Historic Lutz Cemetery This Christmas

222 Veterans. 222 Wreaths. One promise: every veteran remembered.

Each December, something very special happens at Historic Lutz Cemetery.

Families, veterans, volunteers, neighbors, and community organizations come together as part of Wreaths Across America to remember and honor the men and women who served our country. One by one, remembrance wreaths are placed at the graves of the veterans resting here.

This year, 222 veterans are resting at Historic Lutz Cemetery.

Our goal is simple: 222 Veterans. 222 Wreaths.

Today, we are 44 wreaths short of reaching that goal.

We need our community's help to make sure that when Wreaths Across America Day arrives, no veteran at Historic Lutz Cemetery is left without a wreath.

One of the missions closest to our hearts is honoring the veterans resting at Historic Lutz Cemetery.

Throughout the year, our veteran remembrance efforts include flag placements, cemetery projects, volunteer activities, memorial observances and our participation in Wreaths Across America.

These aren't simply events on our calendar.

Each flag and each wreath represents an individual.

A name.

A family.

A story.

A person who served.

We believe those stories deserve to continue being told.

A Cemetery Can Be About Life, Too

People understandably associate cemeteries with death and loss.

But we believe a cemetery can also be about life, memory, and legacy.

It can be a place where a granddaughter learns something about the grandfather she never had the opportunity to meet. A place where a veteran's service continues to be honored decades after he or she comes home. A place where families gather. A place where history can be discovered. A place where someone can sit beneath an old oak tree and simply remember.

And a place where a community can care for the people who came before it.

More Than 100 Years of History & Heritage

Historic Lutz Cemetery was established in 1911, when Lutz was still a young community. Since then, generations of local families have come through our gates.

Walk through the cemetery today, and you aren't simply walking past names and dates carved into stone. You are walking through parts of Lutz's story.

Parents and children. Husbands and wives. Veterans. Community leaders. Neighbors. Friends.

People who built homes, raised families, served their country, started businesses, helped their neighbors, and contributed in countless ways to the community we know today.

Their lives matter. Their stories matter.

Thank You, Tampa Bay! Historic Lutz Cemetery Voted #1 Cemetery in Tampa Bay!

There are some announcements that are simply exciting to make, and others that mean much more.

We are incredibly proud to share that Historic Lutz Cemetery has been voted the #1 Cemetery in Tampa Bay in the Tampa Bay Times Best of the Best People’s Choice Awards for 2026.

For a cemetery that has been part of the Lutz community since 1911, this recognition is especially meaningful. But this award doesn't belong to a place alone. It belongs to the people who have cared about this place - the families who have entrusted their loved ones to our care. To the veterans whose stories we are privileged to preserve. To the volunteers who show up with gloves, flags, wreaths, rakes, shovels, and helping hands. To the organizations and businesses that support our projects.
