Mission Trip Update:

Sunday:
We spent the day playing baseball with the locals going to mass in San Antonio Parish and shopping for food to feed 40 families and create food baskets. We began to organize all the donations from St. Timothy that were shipped here ahead of time and unboxed everything. Fr. Anthony did an amazing job organizing with the kids and creating a system that allows us to distribute clothes to families that we visit.

Monday:
The roads have been really bumpy as we visit the families. The heat a little unbearable at times, but none of our mission team has been complained. It’s just been joy all around, especially as many of the students are playing with a local kids here and really building relationships with the families. We began construction on two homes that needed some structural support and had dirt floors. Fr. has been doing some carpentry today with some of the students at one of the houses, there’s been lots of digging a 20ft hole into the clay dirt to prepare for a latrine at one of the families.

Wednesday:
We surprised a single woman with 7 children and one on the way with furnishings for her home so that she can move in. This has been one of the biggest highlights of the entire trip. She was so grateful and in tears.

Throughout the trip most of our students now have been able to experience the nutrition center working alongside the sisters, taking care of malnourished children, and feeding them and a few of our missionaries were able to make it to the English immersion school and teach English to college students. They have accomplished so much.

Thursday (today):
It’s a national holiday for Corpus Christi feast day and so no work is being done but we have taken this time to visit the capital this morning to pray the rosary in the Cathedral as well as in the oldest Universities in the Americas at the Dominican Monastery. We enjoyed a wonderful Dominican lunch in the Colonial district and then headed back for the Corpus Christi Eucharistic procession and Mass in La Victoria. The sisters hosted 5,000 people for Mass and one of the biggest events they have ever done. We were blessed to take part in it. Please continue to pray for all of our missionaries as we continue our work here. We want to thank all of our donors that are made it possible to do all the beautiful things that are happening here for these people many who are receiving emergency aid and would not eat or have shelter if we didn’t come.

Our work continues tomorrow as we complete the two homes and visit 10 more families in need. Please continue to pray for us. Que Dios te Bendigo!
