We are thrilled to announce that Daniel Bassin has joined TUUC as our new Music Director!

Conductor, composer, trumpeter, and educator Dr. Daniel Bassin (he/him) brings a wealth of experience to our music program. A Long Island native with roots in New York City, Boston, and Southern California, Daniel most recently relocated to Maryland to teach at Springdale Preparatory School. He holds a Ph.D. in Composition from the University at Buffalo, an M.F.A. in Orchestral Conducting from Bard College, and a B.M. with Honors in Composition from the New England Conservatory, with early training at the Juilliard School's Pre-College.

Daniel served for eight years as Music Director of Buffalo's historic Unitarian Universalist Church, where he led collaborations with members of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra including a multi-year cycle of Bach's Christmas Oratorio cantatas and regional premieres of works by Florence Price, F***y Mendelssohn Hensel, Lili Boulanger, Julius Eastman, and many others. A passionate advocate for both contemporary music and neglected masterworks, he has world-premiered more than 150 new compositions and presented over 90 rare classics in their regional first hearings. His performances have taken him to 38 countries and 42 American states.

We are excited to welcome Daniel to our music ministry at TUUC!

ANCESTORS TRAIL ILLUMINATED NIGHT WALK—SAT, NOVEMBER 8 FROM 6-8 PM

Hot dogs, S’mores and finger foods potluck. Bring food and drinks to share as well as a chair to sit at the community fire.

Join with us in the Thoreau Meadow for our gathering bonfire. Experience the haunting beauty of the Ancestors Path lit from below, and above, and brimming with music. Linger during this silent meditation at various stations along the trail. Drop a stone in water, send a message up in smoke at the fire at the Memorial Garden, or light candles for those who have gone before us. Feel free to linger as long as you like, or return to the Thoreau Meadow bonfire. There will be no handicap accessibility this year while the ramp is under construction.

Hello TUUC and All Social Justice Accomplices!

We are banding together to offer the new Unitarian Universalist Social Justice curriculum, the Mosaic program, at TUUC! This is the very same program Angela Castillo mentioned in Worship on June 1st.

TUUC's Intern Community Minister, SarahRuth Wekoye Davis, will facilitate this first offering of Mosaic at TUUC, as an 8-weekly session summer program. This is designed for folks of all ages and all are welcome. Our group will dig into the issues of whiteness, within the larger context of the antiracism journey, and focus on building relational capacity and embodiment of white accomplicing in a variety of contexts. We are exploring in-person, virtual, and hybrid formats, and seeking input on interest and scheduling, with an initial consideration of holding sessions on Sundays at 6:30pm beginning in July. Please reach out to Wekoye for additional information and to reserve your spot (contact information in Breeze).

To learn more about Mosaic:
Mosaic fosters belonging and liberation in Unitarian Universalist congregations and communities. Our work for collective liberation can be as colorful, multi-faceted, and diverse as the tiles of a mosaic. Together, all of our contributions create something beautiful.

This Sunday, May 25th, 2025, marks the 200th anniversary of the chartering of the American Unitarian Association (AUA), a vital part of our Unitarian Universalist heritage. Together with the Universalist Church of America, the AUA laid the foundation for the faith we cherish today.

This milestone invites us to reflect on our deep roots and the inspiring evolution of our liberal religious tradition. From its early mission of sharing Unitarian beliefs and supporting good works, the AUA grew into the broader, more inclusive community dedicated to justice, compassion, and love that we are today.

We're especially mindful of this history as Unitarian Universalists from across the country prepare to gather for General Assembly in nearby Baltimore, MD—close to where Rev. William Ellery Channing delivered his pivotal Baltimore Sermon in 1819.

Join us in celebrating this historic moment by watching this special video message from UUA President Rev. Dr. Sofía Betancourt and UK Unitarian Chief Officer Liz Slade, commemorating the shared 200th anniversary of both the AUA and the British and Foreign Unitarian Association.

Making Faith is a post-curricular approach to Youth Religious Education that offers opportunities for discussion and exploration of the Big Questions. We focus on connection, love, and play, creating an hour each week for children and adults to come together to experience our faith.

Join us during worship. Children from K-12th grade begin with the congregation before making their way to YRE. Nursery is available for Newborns - Pre-K.

We look forward to seeing you!
