🪖 STAND LIKE A MAN — Day 15 of 30
Holding the Line… Standing Firm Under Pressure
Every man faces pressure.
Pressure from the outside.
Pressure from the inside.
The world pressures men to compromise.
To fit in.
To stay quiet.
To go along with the crowd.
But pressure also comes from inside.
Friends.
Family.
Traditions.
The expectations of others.
Both can pull a man away from Christ.
That is why Paul told the Corinthians:
Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. 1 Corinthians 16:13
Corinth was a city filled with false religion, immorality, and worldly philosophies.
The believers were constantly being pressured to go back to the life God had delivered them from.
At the same time, they were struggling with divisions and following personalities within the church.
Some followed Paul.
Some followed Apollos.
Some followed Peter.
Everyone seemed to be pulling in a different direction.
Paul’s answer was simple:
Stand fast in the faith.
Not in culture.
Not in personalities.
Not in traditions.
Stand fast in Christ.
Here is your field assessment:
Many men today are being pulled from both directions.
The world says:
Compromise.
The crowd says:
Conform.
But a godly man asks a different question:
What does God say?
David wrote:
O taste and see that the LORD is good. Psalm 34:8
A strong man does not merely follow the crowd.
He walks with God long enough to discover for himself that God’s way is true.
When temptation comes, he remembers God’s faithfulness.
When pressure comes, he remembers God’s goodness.
When compromise comes, he remembers God’s Word.
Men who have tasted God’s goodness stand differently.
They do not stand because everyone else does.
They stand because they know the Lord.
Today’s Mission:
Identify one area where you are feeling pressure.
Pressure from the world.
Pressure from people.
Pressure from expectations.
Then ask:
What does Christ want me to do?
Stand there.
Hold that line.
Be that man.
