What an exciting season we're in! Our Sunday school building remodel is almost complete, and we can hardly contain our joy and gratitude to the Lord!

Soon we'll be welcoming our children and teachers back into beautifully updated classrooms and bathrooms, brand new church offices ready to serve our ministry needs, and a wonderfully expanded nursery space to care for our littlest ones with even more love and comfort.

God has been so faithful through every step of this project. What a blessing to see His hand at work as we prepare a place where hearts can be nurtured, lives transformed, and the next generation can grow in the knowledge of Him!

As we near the finish line, let's remember this promise from God's Word:

Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it... (Psalm 127:1)

He has been the true Builder all along, and we give Him all the glory!

Appreciate the great work of AGY Enterprises!

Stay tuned for the grand reveal and in the meantime, keep praying for the final touches and for God to use these refreshed spaces mightily for His kingdom.

We can't wait to gather, teach, and worship together in this improved building!

To God be the glory!

Dear Candlestick Baptist Church family,

After much prayer and seeking counsel from our leadership, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our Sunday morning and evening services due to the forecast of severe weather expected in our area. I delayed this announcement as long as possible, hoping conditions might improve, but our priority must always be the safety and well-being of each one of you and your families.

Our planned message this Lord's Day was to be drawn from Psalm 23:5 “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.” What a beautiful reminder of God's abundant provision and care, even amid challenges!

We encourage you to gather as families in your homes, read through the entire 23rd Psalm, and meditate on its comforting truths. Take this opportunity for your household to worship and have a devotion as a family. The Lord's Day remains a day set apart for Him, whether we gather in the church building or in our homes.

We look forward to gathering again for our midweek service this Thursday evening at 6:30 PM, Lord willing and weather permitting.

Please stay safe, stay warm, and keep one another in prayer as the weather passes. May the Good Shepherd watch over each of you.

God bless you richly,
Pastor Donny O'Pry

We just received this update from Matt Gardner:

"I would like to publicly thank everyone who gave towards this tragedy. I had many concerns during this process, but thanks to your sacrificial giving, money was never been one of those concerns. All of the traveling costs were covered; all of the funeral and burial costs were covered; my need to replace my car has been covered; even blessings I could only wish for like the battery back-up system for the house have been completely taken care of. All additional offerings will go towards a college fund for Jedidiah and Mason. It was always Savannah's wish that they grow up to serve the Lord in whatever capacity God planned for their life. I want to use the remaining money to honor that desire of her heart.
God bless all of you and thank you for showing me exactly what Galatians 6:2 looks like in real life. I would also like to thank all those who have been praying for me and the boys. I got all of the files from the computer that died! Mason has just started drinking water regularly from his kid's cup. My days are still filled with tears but God has used Bible verses, my two sons, several counselors, friends, multiple books, and your fervent prayers to help me process all of the trauma and start the long healing process I have ahead.
It's an honor to be a missionary, and even though God has chosen to make me a public example of suffering, I'm thankful that God has been so gracious and loving to me."

Dear Church Family and Friends,

It is with heavy hearts that we share heartbreaking news about our supported missionaries, Matt and Savannah Gardner.

This year, in 2025, our church family was privileged to take the Gardners on for monthly support as they followed the Lord's calling to the mission field in Uganda. Their deep love for the Lord Jesus Christ and their burning desire to reach the lost souls of Uganda with the Gospel was truly encouraging and evident to all who met them. I remember sitting with Matt right here in Lumberton at Whataburger, fellowshipping over a meal, talking ministry, and hearing their vision to continue preaching the Gospel and planting more Bible-believing churches among the people there.

Tragically, Matt and Savannah were involved in a terrible accident. Savannah was immediately called home to be with her Savior. Matt is currently in the hospital with multiple injuries, and we praise the Lord that their two young children were unharmed in the accident.

Though our hearts ache at this sudden loss, we rejoice knowing that Savannah is now in the presence of the Lord, free from pain and sorrow, worshiping at His throne. The Scripture assures us in Psalm 116:15, "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints". Her life was a testimony of surrender to God's will, and her homegoing challenges us all to live sold out for Christ and the Great Commission.

Please join us in fervent prayer for Brother Matt as he recovers, for their children as they grieve, and for the extended family during this difficult time. Pray also that the Lord would use this trial to draw many to Himself and strengthen the work in Uganda.

We serve a sovereign God who makes no mistakes. Let us hold fast to His promises and continue supporting missions with renewed zeal, knowing the fields are white unto harvest.

God is always good.

Please be in prayer for the family of Matt and Savannah Gardner, BIMI missionaries in Uganda, East Africa. Today, as the Gardners were traveling on one of the main streets in Kampala, a train crossed the road and hit their vehicle. Savannah went to Heaven instantly. The two sons are completely fine. Matthew sustained internal injuries and is presently in the hospital. Please pray for Matthew to heal quickly, and for the two sons, Jedidiah (age 4) and Mason (1 year old). We praise the Lord that there is a large group of BIMI Africa missionaries there who are assisting them at this time. If you would like to help the Gardners financially, you may send an offering to BIMI and designate it “Matt Gardner” (Account #1623). Thank you for your prayers!

🚨CHRISTIANS IN SENATE DISTRICT 3🚨

As Christians, we are called to be salt and light in every sphere, including the public square. When righteous men and women remain silent, laws are shaped without the influence of God’s Word, and “sin is a reproach to any people” (Proverbs 14:34).

Pastors and believers have a biblical duty to speak truth, build relationships with elected leaders, and contend for policies that honor the Lord. Our involvement is crucial as a safeguard for the religious liberty future generations will inherit.

With that conviction in mind, we invite you to the "Faith Forum."

📍Candlestick Baptist Church, 130 W. Candlestick Dr, Lumberton

Both candidates running for State Senate District 3 will be there:
✅ State Representative Trent Ashby
✅ Rhonda Ward for State Senator

They will share their testimonies and state their positions on 4 issues that Christians should be concerned about:

- Casino Gambling in Texas
- The rapid rise of Islam in our state
- Illegal immigration & Mass Deportations
- Property taxes crushing homeowners

Every topic will start with a pastor opening God’s Word and laying a clear biblical foundation!

This isn’t just another political event.
This is followers of Christ striving together! Our desire is to inform and equip pastors and believers with a biblical perspective on the issues while also getting to hear from the people who want to represent you.

Pastors, church leaders, and every believer in Senate District 3, we need YOU in the room! Your presence declares that you believe Texas laws should not be written without the voice of God’s people being heard loud and clear.

Bring your family. Bring your Bible. Bring your friends.
And PLEASE tag and share this with your pastor right now!

Doors open 30 minutes early

Let’s pack the house and let both candidates know:
“As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD” and we expect our laws to reflect His righteousness!

Dear Church Family,

Tonight we will be doing something a little different. Normally we have our midweek Bible study on Thursday but tonight we will be having a special prayer service.

We have our Missions Conference starting this Sunday and we're planning on taking the time to pray for the meeting, our missionaries and for more laborers for the harvest. We will still do that.

In addition to that we will take some time to pray for Charlie Kirk's family, our nation and will look to God's word on how to respond to this evil.

The prayer service will start at 6:30pm. Hope to see you there.
