Sermon: ARE YOU WILLING TO LABOR FOR GOD?
Speaker: Pastor David Junior Hunt
John 4:34-38
34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.
37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.
Reaping means cutting or harvesting crops like grain. It also commonly refers to gathering, obtaining, or receiving the results of one's actions, such as in the phrase "reap the benefits" or "reap what you sow". The term implies collecting rewards or consequences from previous efforts.
Harvest•
Harvesting, collecting, gleaning, taking in, reaping, reaping in. Earning, securing, gaining, acquiring, obtaining, realizing, receiving, garnering, winning.
Daniel 12:3
3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
Galatians 6:7-9
7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Matthew 9:37-38
37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;
38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
Jeremiah 8:20
20 The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.
2 Corinthians 9:6
6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully..
2 Thessalonians 3:1
1 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:
Luke 10:2
2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers arefew: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.
Hosea 10:12
12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.
Revelation 14:15 - 16
15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.
16 And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.
Always remember every thing we do is considered sowing and planting. We must accept the Harvest that grows from our decisions and not blame others or God.
• "Reap what you sow": A common metaphor meaning you will experience the results (good or bad) of your past actions.
• Origin: The word is rooted in old English and Germanic terms related to gathering, cutting, or snatching.
• Actionable Metaphor: In a figurative sense, reaping focuses on the outcome of an investment of time, effort, or money
