Join us Sunday, August 30 for a fellowship meal following worship! Bring a dish to share if you are able; if not, just come join us - there’s always plenty!

Have you ever sang worship songs at the top of your lungs in your car, and then five minutes later yelled at the person who cut you off in traffic? (Guilty! 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️) James 3:9-10 calls out this exact contradiction: "With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness... this should not be." It's a heavy reminder that how we speak to others is a direct reflection of our love for God, because every person we meet bears His image.

Humans have figured out how to tame lions, tigers, bears, and even killer whales. But James 3:7-8 hits us with a tough reality: "No human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison." But there's a hidden truth here: No human can tame it alone. We need the Holy Spirit. If you find yourself struggling with a critical spirit, sarcasm that bites a little too hard, or gossip you just can't keep in, stop trying to fix it on your own strength. Pray this with me today: Lord, put a guard over my mouth. Fill my heart with your Spirit so my words reflect Your love.

Help us encourage our local educators by stocking their school break rooms with snacks for the new school year. Teachers and staff give so much of themselves to our children, and we’d love to bless them with a simple reminder that they are seen, appreciated and prayed for. Donations can be dropped off at NLCC any time before August 30. You can also purchase from an Amazon wish list by clicking the link https://tinyurl.com/4kw422e7. Thank you for helping us bless the incredible teachers who bless our children every day!

“Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark." (James 3:5)
It only takes one careless match to burn down a forest, and it only takes one careless sentence to destroy a relationship, ruin a reputation, or break someone's spirit. Gossip, snapping in anger, or leaving a harsh comment online… these are all sparks. Before you speak (or type!) today, ask yourself: Am I planting a seed, or am I starting a fire? Let’s commit to being fire-extinguishers today.

Have you ever thought about how a small rudder steers a huge ship through strong winds? In James 3:3-4, we are reminded that our tongues work the exact same way. The words we choose to speak today, whether positive or negative, encouraging or critical, are actively steering the direction of our lives, our relationships, and our workplaces.
Question for today: What direction are your words steering your life and the lives of those around you right now?

We love seeing children grow up in the church! When Eileen was little, she spent many Sundays sitting and listening to the children’s message. This Sunday, she had the joy of giving the message herself! We are so thankful to watch our children grow, serve, and share God’s Word. We’re proud of you, Eileen!
