I heard this message one day from another Pastor.. and he was really good and I wanted to share this with y’all today..

Today Message: The Benefit of doubts, God can handle your doubts.

There are many reasons people might doubt their faith, But doubt isn’t the enemy of faith, it’s often a pathway to a deeper, more meaningful faith. We can examine our beliefs, let go of what untrue, and build on what is true.

In a few ways share faith background, what do you appreciate about your past experiences?

(Mathew 14:28-31): “Lord”, if it’s you: Perter replied, ‘tell me to come to you on water; ‘Come’, he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and come toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord” save me!” Immediately Jesus reached, out his hand and Caught him. “You of little faith, ‘he said, ‘why did you doubt?

Peter doubted, and Jesus rescued him. (Matthew 14:31)

Thomas doubted, and Jesus gave him proof. (John 20:27)

Disciples doubted, and Jesus sent them anyway. (Matthew 28:17-19)

John the Baptist doubted, and Jesus reassured him. (Matthew 11:4-5)

Martha doubted, and Jesus reminded her of His power. (John 11:21-25)

The father of the demon-possessed boy doubted, and Jesus strengthened his faith. (Mark 9:24-25).

If Jesus has grace for doubts, shouldn’t we.

Dont disqualify your faith

Doubt isn’t the enemy of faith,

Doubt is often a pathway to a deeper, more meaningful faith.

Why do you doubt?

What if this question isn’t an accusation, but an invitation?

I always doubted if I was good enough for God but for years, God has been showing me how much he loves me. By answering my prayers over and over again.

What is deconstruction?

Deconstruction is a sincere examination of your beliefs, letting go of what’s untrue to build on what is true.

Lextalions: Law of retaliation or the principle of retribution.

“You have heard that it was said, eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth. ‘39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. (Matthew 5:38-39 NIV)

(Mathew 16:23)- “You do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”

How do you build your believe system?

Everyone reads the Bible with a bias. Everything you believe about God may not be true. When you discover something that you believed isn’t true, unbelieve what isn’t true and pursue what is true.

(1 Peter 2:25 NIV):For “you were like a sheep going astray, “but now you have returned to the Shepard and Overseer of your souls.

Daniel 6:23, NLT

Not a scratch was found on him, for he had trusted in his God.

He’s Got This
In Daniel 6 is the story of how the enemies of Daniel conspired to get him arrested and thrown into the lions’ den for refusing to stop worshipping God. Daniel’s attitude was, “God has me in the palms of His hands. He controls the lions.” He stayed in peace. Everyone else expected the hungry lions to tear Daniel apart, but God supernaturally closed the mouths of the lions. He made Daniel unappetizing!

God never promised that we wouldn’t have difficulties, but He did promise that He would give us strength for every challenge and take what was meant for harm and use it for our advantage. You may have a good reason to worry about something, but there’s a simple phrase you have to get down in your spirit: "God’s got this." He already has a solution. Live out of a place of peace and trust. It’s just a matter of time before you see things turn around in your favor.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You for Your promise that You can take the things that are meant to harm me and use them for my good. I receive this word and choose to remain at rest, knowing You’ve got this. I declare that there is no God like You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Week 1

Luke 1:5-25

Topic: Purpose

Like God called John to a specific purpose—before birth and before he could qualify himself for the task—He calls us to spread His story of salvation to the world—even when we don’t feel capable to do the job.

Don’t be scared to follow God’s calling on your life; if He’s called you to it, He’ll provide the strength for you to do it.

1. These dogs are trained for a very specific purpose. Their job is to comfort children who testify in court:

What purpose do you have in Christ?

2. John was chosen before birth for his specific work. He didn’t receive his calling after proving himself worthy. He didn’t originally receive a different calling, prove himself unworthy, and then receive the new role of preparing the way the Messiah. Often, in our own lives, we put more emphasis on our performance than on God’s sovereign hand. We often feel like our effectiveness comes from inside, instead of outside. How can you be faithful to what God has called you to do?

3. Unlike John the Baptist, we don’t always know what God has called us to do. There are two types of callings: general and specific. A general calling is a calling that all Christians are commanded to perform—love God and others. A specific calling is one unique to everyone—like John the Baptist. The key, then, is to always pursue God’s general calling on your life, and seek to be faithful to His present, specific calling. You may not know what you’ll be doing in ten years, but you can have a specific calling at your school, today.

4. God chooses to use the unqualified for His work, so no man can boast about their achievements. (See 1 Corinthians 1:27-29)

5. It’s important to be content with the role God has called you to. It would have never worked if John stood in the shadow of Jesus, grumbling about his dream to be the Messiah. In the same way, we can become jealous of someone else’s role in the body of Christ.

6. In 1 Corinthians 12:12-27, Paul talks about how there is one body of Christ, but many parts. We can’t all be the eyes. The body needs hands and lungs to survive. You may not end up being a preacher or missionary, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t essential! The church needs all of us!

Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The c**k shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.

We might make big promises- especially to God. But when we find ourselves in a difficult situation where our promises matter most, can we uphold them? Jesus knows that sometimes our talk is bigger than our action. And sometimes He gives us opportunities to see where our words get ahead of us to gently remind us to choose our promises carefully.

Lord, thank You for Your faithfulness. Even though we have let You down, Your promises never fail. Teach each and one of us to be wise in my words, so that we may make only the promises that we can keep. And give us the power to persevere and see our promises through, even when it seems difficult or impossible. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Daily Reminders

Big Idea of the Series: This four-week series reveals the importance of developing
daily habits and routines that cultivate spiritual formation. We can gain success in our
daily walks with Jesus by understanding what the Bible says about habits, gratitude,
meditation, and encouraging others.

Week 1

Text: Colossians 3:5–13
Topic: Daily Routine, Habit, Spiritual Discipline, Spiritual Growth
Big Idea of the Message: Our daily routines impact our spiritual growth. We should
cultivate these routines to help us grow.
Application Point: We will develop daily routines to grow spiritually.

Sermon Ideas and Talking Points:

1. Think of someone who is talented in an area of life. The athlete who can catch a
ball with one hand in the air, or the musician who seems to play an instrument
like it was an extension of their body. Is it just natural talent or is there a habit to
their success? The hours spent repeating the same scale on the instrument or
the constant practice of catching the ball shows the power of habit.

2. In our quest for personal growth, we might have googled something like “habits
of successful people.” Successful people, whether entrepreneurs, athletes, or
governing leaders are marked by daily routines that help them in their pursuit of
greatness. Analyzing various routines of successful people, authors Kate
Bratskeir and Bradley Little say, “Light a candle, hug your partner, wash your
face—whatever you do in the morning, make it a ritual that marks the start of a
new day and a fresh start. American dancer Twyla Tharp is a big believer in
rituals for both creativity and accountability.

3. We are creatures of habit. In fact, our habits tell us more about ourselves than
what we tell people we believe. Philosopher James Smith explains, “Our wants
and longings and desires are at the core of our identity, the wellspring from which
our actions and behavior flow” (James K. A. Smith, You Are What You Love: The
Spiritual Power of Habit [Grand Rapids: Brazos Press], 1). Our daily habits must
be shaped by spiritual disciplines that recalibrate our hearts to the things that
God desires. Prayer, meditation, reading Scripture, praise, and other disciplines
shape our habits and train our lives for godliness.

4. The Bible describes the importance of seeking God every day. Paul tells the
church in Colossians to “put on” the new clothes of walking with God, “seeing
that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self,
which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. … Put on
then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness,
humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another” (Colossians 3:8–
13). “Having taken off the shabby ‘clothes’ appropriate for the old age, the
Colossians are to be fitted out with beautiful new robes, appropriate for their new
position. They are not accustomed to such finery, but God’s loving and gracious
choice of them makes it fitting that they should now wear it. Paul earlier (1:11)
prayed that this sort of character would appear in the Colossians; he now urges
them (clothe yourselves …) to make his prayer come true” (N. T. Wright,
Colossians and Philemon: An Introduction and Commentary, Tyndale New
Testament Commentaries 12 [Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press, 1986],
146).

5. What routines do you do every day or even every week? Date night every Friday.
Sunday routine is church, family lunch, then watching football. You wake up
every morning, and first thing you make coffee, check emails, take a shower in
that order. Whether intentionally or unintentionally, we all have routines that we
have every day and every week. We must see the spiritual side of our routines.
Because everything we do, impacts our character, habits, and walk with God.

6. Dallas Willard tells us the power of habit and routine in our spiritual walk, “In
general, then, we ‘put on’ the new person by regular activities that are in our
power, and we become what we could not be by direct effort. If we take note of
and follow Jesus in what he did when he was not ministering or teaching, we will
find ourselves led and enabled to behave as he did when he was ‘on the spot. …
The single most obvious trait of those who profess Christ but do not grow into
Christlikeness is their refusal to take the reasonable and time-tested measures
for spiritual growth. I almost never meet someone in spiritual coldness,
perplexity, and distress who is regular in the use of those spiritual exercises that
will be obvious to anyone familiar with the contents of the New Testament”

UNITY IN THE MIDST OF DIVERSITY
May 17, 2024

John 13:34-35

"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."

We are all unique.

We are all distinct.

We are all different.

Yet, God desires for us to live in unity. Does this seem easy to you? Today, there is incredible animosity in the world. One ethnic group despises another. One family member hates another. One neighbor is feuding against another.

From siblings to CEOs – unity does not come naturally.

Just look at a toddler. The first words learned are often "NO!" and "MINE!"

If Christ desires peace among His people. So, where does all this hatred come from?

SIN.

Let’s go back to the beginning in Genesis 3. Sin poisoned the world, separating man from God. The result? Hatred and disunity.

Jesus says to His followers, "I want you to be different. I want you to love one another just as I have loved you. You are different. You are all unique in the body of Christ, but love one another. Then, when others look at you, they will see God. When the church is united amid its diversity, it becomes a reflection of the One True God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit all in one.

(Paraphrased)

Take a look at your life. Are you reflecting the unity in diversity of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit?

In what areas are you lacking unity with other believers?

Ask God for help overcoming any animosity toward others.

Ask God to help you be a force for peace amidst the diversity of Christ’s people.
